It's a little creepy. Like a bad infomercial or a pyramid scheme.

No. If the only witness to the crime admits she lied about the whole thing and is now in jail for lying to police, that's a really tough case to prosecute.

The best thing about Saban is, he is who he is and doesnt give a %$#& what you think.
Yet your post implies he may have kicked out a player who did nothing wrong because of possible negative backlash

Wow. Now you idiots are ready to roast Saban because of this news? Jesus. Talk about a Catch-22.

If this is true, I actually feel sorry for the situation that Saban is in right now.
Do you say "sorry, we already let you go even though you were falsely accused"?
Or do you keep the whole thing in the spotlight by admitting him back?
This is a lose/lose situation.

Ok, give me my tin foil hat.
We've gone 5 pages and nobody has accused Auburn of putting a new Operation Red Dog into action?
They hired this chick to make the false accusation! I just know it!

This is exactly why setting a consistent standard is so difficult. You can't reasonably cut everyone loose if they've only been accused, but if you limit it to convicted criminals the bar is set a little too high and you'll have all sorts of "retractions"

Uh no, just laughing at your hypocrisy. You are patting Saban on the back for not caring what people think, yet a few sentences before that you basically imply Saban was aware that there was more to the story but kicked him out anyway because of perceived negative backlash.

We'll lsu had the same problem last year when Harlem mills was arrested for hitting a girl then story changed that another girl hit her and blamed him so who knows it's his vs her word. Question is if he is innocent is he back on the team?

No he won't be back on the team. He isn't worth the drama. Never has been.

I wonder if Saban has an alternate basis for dismissing him. Obviously it can't be entirely alternate, but something along the lines of "we had established with JT that putting himself in any position that even resembled the appearance of domestic violence would be dealt with with harshly. Once this story broke he did not address it with us in the manner we expected him to. I hope that for his sake the charges do turn out to be without basis, but nonetheless we feel it is best that we part ways with him and we hope he continues to develop as an athlete and a person, etc. etc."

quote:DV accusation is not a mandatory arrest or pro-arrest in Alabama. Even then, those states that have mandatory arrest policies, there still needs to be probable cause for the arrest (although studies show they fail to find probable cause as the conviction rates are really low).
It's domestic violence. A simple accusation is all they really need for the most part.

It really is an awful situation all around. I did not want Taylor in the first place, but once the decision was made to accept him, he became part of the team. Either his past is forgiven or it is not. So now it looks like the right thing to do for JT is to bring him back (if the girl truly is lying), but the best thing for the program is to wash its hands clean of him and move on.

Exactly dude wasn't worth all this in the first place. Bama/Saban have no one to blame for putting themselves in this situation other than the man in the mirror.
