Not sure why you asked me if I had read the article since you obviously didn't
quote:
David Womack, Matt Womack’s father, told The Clarion-Ledger in the fall that LSU coaches were not planning to contact his son on an unlimited basis because Matt wasn’t completely firm on enrolling early or on his commitment to LSU.
So in the fall Womack's dad said he wasn't sure if he was going to enroll early or attend LSU. Not retroactively, in the fall. Yet LSU self-reported so clearly they did break the contact rules despite this

But if they aren't considering the school why would they sign it giving someone they don't want to talk to unlimited access to them?
Ok maybe not someone you have never talked with, but a 5 star who has LSU in their top 5 or 6, but is by no means a sure signee. Wouldn't it be a great advantage to have them sign one of these and then get unlimited communication with them?

It is, but it's not an SEC rule. What he's saying is let the proper people enforce it. SEC office should stay out of it.
Like when the NCAA said Travonte Valentine was eligible but the SEC flagged him.

He "wasn't sure". Does it say when the FAA was officially dismissed or whatever? If I'm allowed to talk to a recruit and I know he's wavering, guess what I'm going to do?

I see what the SEC is trying to do here. They want teams to pay extra money to the recruits so they stay committed. Yay Slive

You're right tmc, it's clear there was a violation. It's just a stupid rule that, unless fixed, is going to be abused.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say you'd ignore the rules and hope he signed with you in the end. Ask for forgiveness later and then whine about the unfairness of it all when you got slapped with a minor penalty.

For the Alabama and A&M fans defending this stupid rule and the penalty against LSU for "breaking" it, you all look like morons.
Your "level headed" explanation of how LSU cheated is laughable and self-serving to the extreme. Embarrassing, really.
This is an incredibly stupid penalty and stupid rule. We KNOW that players are getting paid all over college football and THIS is the kind of stuff they penalize - and rather harshly, too?

I'm sure you can't put the pieces together in your head but get your hands on a calendar and see if you can figure out why you're an idiot.

SEC office
The SEC office is pretty selective in handing down punishments. As far as I know, it is only LSU.
We just got hit with sanctions on this and last year they held out Valentine after the NCAA gave him the green light.
Raise your hand, other SEC schools, if you have been sanctioned by the SEC Office?

Rock and a hard place. You know it's possible to get sanctions if the recruit goes elsewhere, BUT you're allowed to talk to them. It's maddening.

This is a complete joke

I just don't see how the recruit doesn't get in trouble as well. It should go both ways. What if a kid does this with the intention of this happening? What if another school pays him enough to back out and the school gets fricked? It's just plain idiotic.

whats really not a surprise is that the OP troll is an Arkansas fan

Let's see how long this rule stays around. I could see it causing tons of shite down the road. I'm all for it.
