Ohioans are buying up more tickets to the Sugar Bowl than fans in Alabama, according to an analysis by SeatGeek, a search engine for secondary-market tickets to live events.
Since Sunday's announcement that Ohio State would meet top-ranked Alabama in the national semifinal game on Jan.1, fans in the Buckeye State have scooped up 21 percent of tickets purchased on SeatGeek, compared to 18 percent bought in Alabama.

Tons of us bought tickets the week before or after the SECCG before OSU won because we knew we'd be in New Orleans and wanted to beat the other team to the punch (thought it would be FSU).
Also I live in Georgia.
Also I live in Georgia.

OSU has the most obnoxious fan base in college sports, bar none. If I were a Bama fan I'd almost be tempted to watch on TV rather than deal with the Buckeye horde that will descend on NOLA.

This doesn't surprise me. Ohio state brought a shite ton of fans to the 2007 title game.

tOSU is lucky that 2014 Bama team is not championship caliber, sort of like 2013 Bama team that went 11-1 before meeting Chokelahoma.
I see a repeat of last year's Sugar Bowl.

We'll have more, just give 'em time.
Actually no, probably will end up being 50-50. Anyone see them last year vs Michigan and Cal? Their fans are pretty passionate and travel really well. Not to mention their large alumni base. We'll have around the same amount of fans, but don't expect it to be like the Capital One Bowl, SEC Championship, or like the match-ups in Atlanta.

If I had to spend a year watching B1G football, I'd be excited to see Alabama play too....

Ohio State has a larger alumni fanbase than Alabama.

Aren't there more than twice as many people living in Ohio as there are in Alabama? If this is just showing how many people from each state are buying tickets, then Ohio with a 3% lead is not that surprising.

Well they were number one in attendance for the year.

If I was a bama fan on a limited budget, I would just buy NC tickets and forget about the sugar bowl.

I'm sure gumps rather go to the NCG.

Alabama doesn't get excited about thier bowl games when they don't make it to the NC.

40K quiet fans sound just like 10K. Not worried about how many tOSU fans are there. They will be looking at their phones after halftime.

Bama's upset about being disrespected with the Sugar Bowl again this year. Should have been given a bye and a seat in the NC game from the start. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/icons/casty.gif)

Ohio State beating Alabama in buying Sugar Bowl tickets
I expect such silliness from the Cleveland press, but geez, the OP should be able to recognize the fact that this "seatgeek" site can only analyze based on where tickets are shipped to, and that there will be tons of Bama fans traveling from Tennessee, Mississippi, Georgia, and the Florida panhandle. I seriously doubt that more OSU fans have bought tickets than Bama fans. Tide Pride members had to have well over 500 points in order to get tickets. Unless you're contributing some fairly serious dollars, you would have to be a ticket holder for several years in order to get tickets. This is my 9th year, and I've only got 160 points. Any notion that OSU fans are out-spending Bama fans is silly.
