Just saw a post with odds that Mark Richt has the best odds to be the next head coach of Nebraska. I don't believe it, but wondering how many of you want him gone. I hear all the disgruntled fans who call in for Richt's head listening to sports radio in Atlanta.
My question is do you want him gone and if so, who would be on UGA's short list?
Personally, I think he's a great coach and I'd be happy as a UGA fan with his consistency. 8 10+ win seasons (looking at an 11th with a bowl win) out of 14 seasons. Only one losing season in the last 14 years. Not even Bama can say that. And before Bama fans jump in with Saban's NC's, that is so rare to find a coach who has experienced that success as of late, would you really want to take a chance and give up on being in the hunt just about every year?

Always liked Richt...class guy.

Georgia is rarely nationally relevant past mid October. I wouldn't cry if he left.

Richt is going to retire at Georgia. If they were going to fire him it would have happened already.
And why the hell would he go to Nebraska?

I very seriously doubt he leaves.
If he does, 90% chance Bobo is promoted.

He's from Omaha and it's becoming increasingly obvious with every season that it may just not work for him at UGA. I think he's a very good coach who would thrive at a place like Nebraska where he can still recruit fairly well and not have to live in the pressure cooker world of the SEC.

Why would he leave Georgia for Nebraska?

Doubt he would. History shows that Nebraska is far more likely to fire him after 3-5 eight or nine win seasons. Their tolerance for mediocrity is far less than UGAs. He would just be insuring that his career ended in a firing.

I agree I wouldn't go there. It's a declining program waiting on a savior that is never going to come.

I like Richt and want him to stay. I don't think he is going anywhere.

Do I want him gone? Yes. I could write a whole novel on my reasoning. Bottom line is winning seasons without EVER winning a national title, a decade long drought without an sec championship, & underachieving based on talent is not ok.
Nebraska doesn't want Richt. Richt is the same kind of coach as Pelini as far as winning goes. He is mediocre. Nebraska is looking to get back to their glory days. Richt won't get them there.
Richt won't go to Nebraska(unless fired) on his own accord. He won't have the talent level to disguise his coaching abilities as well.

Hope he stays. It seems to me that UGA has had a legit excuse for their shortcomings over the years, they could still get to the big dance with him running the show.

Muschamp to UG, perfect fit.
He would probably do well at UGA.

Richt's lost control of the coaching changes board.
But seriously. He's possibly the best coach in UGA history. Up there with Vince Dooley. Nebraska is now a mediocre B1G team. He's staying.

Richt has it made in the shade at Georgia; he won't be going to Nebraska. Having said that, I want him to stay at UGA but I also want him to improve. He finally has who appears to be a good DC in Pruitt so hopefully our recruiting and performance on defense will improve. And if Richt can improve daily discipline as opposed to kicking players off the team after it's too late and make better in-game decisions, we might actually have a chance to win another SECC in the next 10 years.

I'll ask the same question I ask of those LSU fans who want to run CLM off: who is better out there AND who would be a realistic replacement? Don't give me Gruden or Harbaugh, etc. A realistic replacement.

Realistic eliminates Gruden, Harbaugh, Chip Kelly, Brian Kelly (wouldn't want anyways), etc...
Would Dantonio make the move? That would be my dream scenario.
