It is a little harsh. The recent string of on-campus assaults probably plays into this as well, not a lot of good press out there right now as it relates to campus safety.

Not once have I accused her of lying. Not once. Not once have I said he DIDN'T rape her.
You just seem to be jumping to the "False rape accusation!!" trope just as quickly as you bemoan others for jumping on the "String him up!!" side. Do some women sometimes get raped? True or False?
Which is more prevalent, rape or false accusations?

What often gets lost in that case are the 10+ years of loss of all control in that program. Cleared or not, those 10 years or so also got swept under the rug in the process. I would say the Duke folks got off for what they actually did and were never prosecuted on.

He's gotten his life back and the media reported because of how high a profile he was. With that said, I don't think they ever prosecuted his false accuser. Of course, I could be wrong because I haven't followed the case in awhile.

I've said multiple times in this thread (since we're talking about reading a "fricking word") that it happens. And it should be dealt with if it is a false accusation.

But you're being an advocate for protecting him and allowing him to be above the University's policy when dealing with a pending sexual assault case.

I have a nephew who life was ruined because of a false rape accusation. Spent 20 months in jail (had prior MJ arrests), and couldn't afford anything other than public defender. He was declared innocent- the woman had done this before.
Now he can't even date women because he is afraid. And he is the farthest you can get from gay. Boy is gorgeous. And now he is a true fricked up kid.
This is serious stuff. Good god, this is terrible for everyone involved, regardless if it is true or not.
