Does the SEC play too many cupcakes compared to the other conferences?

Moreover, it doesn't matter when one power 5 conference is considerably stronger than the other 4, and far, far, stronger than at least 2 of the other power 5 conferences.

UCLA is the only power 5 school that plays at least 2 power 5 schools AND only FBS schools.

School from other conferences play plenty of cupcakes -- every season during conference play.

Comparing schedules should be about comparing the strength of the whole schedule. This fascination with looking at only ooc games is dumb when looking at strength of schedule.

As it relates to the overall quality of cfb, everyone plays too many cupcakes.

Should be a minimum of 10 power 5 games on every power 5 schedule and a max of 1 fcs opponent.

YES! .... but we have a much tougher conference schedule so we also play tougher competition. I think it all balances out.

Not directly related to OP, but it's amazing how non-SEC types want to bitch about the SEC playing 2 or 3 cupcakes. When you consider the top 5 games on any given SEC team's schedule for the year, they are generally much harder than other conference's teams. To me that's what matters, and that's all that should matter. Not whether you played a schedule of 5 or 6 middling weaklings masquerading as conference foes.

Not when some entire conferences are cupcakes.

Other conferences get their cupcakes in house.

The SEC has to go out.

It's all noise to me. I expect my team to schedule one strong nonconference opponent each year to add to the SEC slate. Two is gravy.

Scheduling an entire nonconference slate of pushovers is a little ridiculous. But if you play an SEC schedule and add one legitimate nonconference team, nobody has a legitimate gripe - ESPECIALLY teams that play in weaker conferences.

To answer this simply. All other conferences are 3/4 cupcakes. So why they say our OOC games are cupcakes. Their OOC and in conference schedules are shite. Just a pansy excuse to say something that they think they have a one up on the SEC.

The other conferences are made up of all cupcakes and one or two decent teams. This isn't the case in tSEC west

Well, 14 teams times 4 OOC games = 56 OOC games..

I'd say we have to schedule our fair share of cupcakes. There just aren't enough open dates, scheduling opportunities, mutual contract opportunities, etc. for all 14 teams to be able all schedule TWO "Top 5 Conference" opponents, much less one.....

I'm not clicking the link. IMO if the other conferences were better, then, the OOC teams they play would feel like cupcakes also. They need to up their game.
