Was adding Texas A&M to the SEC a mistake?

It's an honest question. Was adding Texas A&M a mistake by the SEC?
PROS for TAMU:
- Poll bumps and over-the-top hype for even the smallest success
- Stadium expansion after a 4 loss season
- SEC TV $$$
- Recruiting gravitas and momentum
- Renewed interest in program by alumni - see stadium expansion
NEGS for TAMU:
- ???
---------------------------
PROS for SEC:
- ???
NEGS for SEC:
- Inundation with TAMU fans and 'tradition' - no rivalries or tradition of value added
- SEC West becomes more cannibalistic than ever, both in games and recruiting. Nine game conf. schedule would be downright murder
- Perceived influence creep into Texas only benefits Aggies, not the conference like they thought it would.
- Further having to subdivide TV money and influence
Does anyone feel like we are better off? What is the next program the SEC will save from mediocrity via expansion?
My views are my own and do not necessarily represent those of SEC or Auburn fans.

50% of our expansions in 1992 and 2012 where on target. 50% were a result of settling for what we could get at the time.
C- grade on expansions for the SEC IMO.

You'd have to go to shaggybevo to get a number crunch from some obsessed longhorns; but they break down the (unbelievable to them) incremental revenue A&M brings to the SECN because Texas is considered in the footprint. It's something like 90+ million. I think we are bringing our share and some of extra TV revenue.

In all seriousness, I think they were a phenomenal addition and fit very well. Awesome tradition, strong program, great fans, RABID fans. Love the add

Not when you look at $. As far as recruiting, yeah yall fricked.

SECN without TAMU is a non-starter at worst and at best makes much less money. TAMU brings each school in SEC more money than it would have without it. You are welcome.

A&M made a great decision joining the conference. From a revenue standpoint, they are worth keeping around. Adding the Ags was a net negative in every other regard.

Someone got A&M all up in their dome.
Rant logic.

By adding A&M you added a potential long term powerhouse to the conference, from one of the largest media market states, along with one of the deepest talent pools in the nation...that was a win all across the board.
...as for the East... I am sure we could have done better.

TAMU could have joined the conference of its choice. Has the academic side of things for b1g, acc, PAC and a top 10 AD.
-AAU
-Research giant
-in a very large state
-top 10 AD
Ergo, send us a gift basket in appreciation.

Yeah. People complain about the off-season. But it's not really any different than in-season.
