Look at what Frank Martin has accomplished at South Carolina or lack of. Not really a good fit, but good hire Auburn none the less.

We'll see. I think it is a good fit. The narrative will be about Pearl, not Pearl at Auburn, which in the long term is good for Auburn.

Auburn has nothing to build on, but Pearl has the national respect and charisma to carry AU on his own. That'll help tremendously to get talent to AU, and in turn, help him rebuild the program.

He'll probably move up, but if he can get us on the right track before he does, make the job more attractive, it'll be well worth it.

Black hole. Pitino, Izzo and Bill Self would struggle there.

If Pearl ( or anyone) can come to Auburn and turn our basketball program around, he will be a god. We have a great fan base, great facilities, and tons of resources. We just need a coach to lead/build a program.

No way to spin this as anything other than a great hire by Auburn. Even if he quickly jumps to a big job in a few short years Auburn has gained a level of credibility it hasn't had in a long time. Good coaches will now go there in the future.

This puts Anthony Grant on notice. Step up your game big time in recruiting and results or next year is your last year.

Pearl is a much better coach than Martin.

I'm of the belief Martin won off of Huggins kids then bailed because he couldn't hack it there anymore.

You've got great fans of Auburn but the basketball support has always been subpar. For all the crap Alabama gets for only caring about football, they've always supported basketball relatively well especially compared to Auburn basketball fans. That's not to say Auburn fans won't support basketball. The Auburn basketball bandwagon was piled to the rafters during the Doc Robinson/Chris Porter/Scotty Pohlman/Mamadou Nydai years and those were some wild crowds.

I do think for the first time in my life Auburn has a chance to establish its basketball program as the premier program in the state.

Pearl needs credibility and a clean track record for a few years. Not to mention a fat paycheck.

Auburn needs a program-building badass like Pearl to get us off the dung heap.

Not sure how long the partnership will last, but it's damn sure mutually beneficial.

The bandwagon will be full

I'm guessing season tickets will almost sell out

I know I've never cared about Auburn basketball but now I have a reason to... Future is bright in the three main sports as it looks like Galloway might know what he's doing

Yeah but can you really blame us? I know supporting your team during bad periods is admirable, but I can't fault people for not driving in from Atlanta to watch a Lebo or Barbee team. If there is a good product we'll be there. Hopefully if we can establish that, we'll have the momentum to carry through down years too. The problem is when they're all down years...

Auburn hires a coach with a NCAA record, I think it is a perfect fit. Auburn has had as many if not more scrapes with the NCAA than anyone, with a history of giving them the middle finger.

Why, is your coach going to try getting him fired from Auburn too? Can't Thad just leave Bruce alone?

Not true. But discussing that would be off-topic.
