Why did Saban request to speak to the committee about the supposed issue.

Find me anybody...anybody ever associated with him or his programs who would call him lazy! There have been hundreds of articles written about him and his work ethic, and you'll not find the first one that would be stupid enough to insinuate it...in fact the very opposite would be used to describe him. Sorry, but you've just put a dunce cap on your post.
yeah, pretty much Saban is too lazy to learn new tricks.

Has Ellis Johnson weighed in on this yet?

He isn't lazy. He just knows he needs help after he prepared for a yr for atm and they still hung 42 on him.
Add in the most epic game in college history and an a loss to a shitty OU in the bowl and the man is willing to try whatever shady behind the scenes shite he can to help himself.
Not that complicated and pretty transparent. Which is why he is being ripped so much.
Bama fans could admit this and move along or not. Doesn't matter.

To believe that Saban is the puppeteer behind this awful rules proposal (one more time: it’s not going to pass) means you must also believe that Saban, with every possible advantage already in his possession, would be deliberately deceitful to gain another.
Yeah and Kevin Spacey never does anything for his own personal gain in House of Cards either.

I do not think he is lazy. He just realizes that he can not counter what the HUNH is doing under the current rules. Saban has the advantage when he can call the Defensive plays with personnel he wants in the game. If any of the equation is out of his control, he has problems. You have not or will not every hear him say that the breakdown was his fault, it was always someone not doing what they were taught. Which means he had the right call and the right personnel in the game. He can not say that with the HUNH.

Yeah at least he admitted to what is what really about.

The last three losses he's had have all come at the hands of the HUNH.

And he was only complaining about it after Auburn dominated South Carolina, 3 times in 2 years, and he couldn't stop it.

True, but he's also defeated teams that run it. Or tried to use it against him because others had success.

I don't know about the word lazy, but Saban doesn't want to change the way his team plays. I don't think it's because he's lazy. He thinks football should be played a certain way and the HUNH doesn't align with how he thinks football should be played. It gives him fits and he doesn't think he should have to change what he does to adjust to it.
Let's not try to act like he doesn't have a problem with it though. We all know he's been very outspoken about it. And the "safety" issue is unfounded bunk.

He is paid a lot of money to find any advantage he can, it is his job. If he has the clout to pull this off then, so be it. It is great for him and Alabama. Another point is that the HUNH is not as big of a problem for him as people want to say it is. Alabama lost to Auburn because of offensive and special teams miscues more so than HUNH, missed field goals, holding and illegal procedure penalties etc, or even Auburns D stopping them late on 3rd and 4th down. I think most would agree that the results of that game dictated the Oklahoma game. I don't think for a minute that if they had beaten Auburn, Misouri or Oklahoma, or even FSU would have beaten them. I hope the rule does not pass and I expect Alabama to win their games next year against HUNH teams handily.

Auburn and Oklahoma both took advantage of something no one else could...a lack of experienced and game-ready boundary corners. That revolving door took longer to cost Alabama a game that most will admit.

But his success against them is far lower than his success against all others... in fact they account for his only failures over the last two years...
