What does Nick Saban do that is so different from other coaches?

I've really never seen anything like what the Alabama program is doing. Maybe with USC with Pete Carroll, but that was really before Oregon or Stanford was on the map, so their competition level wasn't all that difficult.
Alabama is now on their sixth year of dominating a conference known for its parity. The SEC routinely puts together NFL star studded squads that can beat anyone in the country.
But those star studded teams are put together every few years. Florida had a good run for a few years. LSU has had a few dominant teams. Auburn had 2010. Arkansas had a few years.
But Alabama has had the "it" team for six years straight.
It isn't recruiting. LSU, Florida, Georgia, even Auburn have all had top quality recruiting classes for multiple years. They haven't been able to sustain that level of dominance.
So what is it?

Keeps them focused and develops

It's The Process.

Make his own fans leave their game's early

Cheating probably.

That's vague, though.
I mean, seriously. You think Les Miles doesn't know how to develop talent? Nick Saban really teaches "focus" at a level far beyond anyone else?

100% attention to detail in every single part of the game.

He turned down the difficulty to JV.

In Auburn's case we are on our 3rd coach since Saban arrived.
I fully believe Gus the right guy to go up against Saban though.

This basically. Alabama CAN and HAS lost to good teams. It's those other teams that Alabama doesn't let sneak up on em' that keeps Bama rolling.

I am seeing the same traits in Malzahn to be honest.

It's his appreciation in the game.

Keeps it all "in house"

Alabama hasn't dominated this conference.
LSU is 3-4 versus Saban, and 6 of those matchups could have gone either way.

It's everything.
Starts with recruiting, gets the best players.
But then, he develops the talent to it's max. 4/5 stars come to Alabama and then play like it, they get better every game and every season.
Discipline is also key, both on the field and off.
And he's a workaholic and perfectionist when it comes to preparation. Nobody has ever outworked Saban and his coaching staff ever.
He also runs a rock solid style of offense and defense, it's highly stable and productive (ie not reliant on gimmicks or crazy personal).
It's a hard combo to beat. To beat Alabama a team needs to play absolutely lights out and have Alabama make a ton of mistakes. If those two things don't happen you're gonna lose and usually lose badly.

It's the Bama effect. At Bama, average coaches turn into good coaches, good coaches turn into great coaches and great coaches turn into GOAT candidates. The greatness of Bama combined with the greatness of Saban equals the greatest run in college football history.
