I'm guessing Kirk Ferentiz is lining up for the end-of-year fired bus?
If FSU generates the $400 -$500 million I'd be very shocked.

Say hello to Laramie again otherwise Utah.

I have a feeling the people who run that university are going to regret this if true. Not enough forward thinking.
Russia has made some real decent progress around Kupyansk in Northern Ukraine. They claim 7km, Ukraine says 5km.

Either way, Ukraine going to need to relocate some people in order to stem the advance.

Poland has already stated they don't mind transporting grain to other ports. They just won't sell it in country.

This is about local supply/demand. These Eastern bloc countries don't want Ukrainian grain in the country, because more supply=lower prices. Consumers of course will be happy to buy anything that's cheap, but Polish farmers will lose their arse on the lower prices. And in an election year ( in Poland at least) that's untenable.

I think Ukraine/ their farmers are just going to have to bite the bullet for this years harvest. Especially after 60 tons got destroyed in Odessa and now there's a naval blockade. They'll just have to accept the longer rail transport to the Northern NAto ports/Romania. Lower profits for the farmers, but at least they'll get something.
On Bahkmut:

Russians are worried about the situation near Bakhmut:

"At the moment, the Armed Forces of Ukraine are demolishing our positions in the Bakhmut direction with cluster munitions. The counter-battery fight does not work. Everything is burning all around. The men are holding on, waiting for aviation. The General Staff has not yet handed over cluster bombs and rockets with cluster munitions to our guys for answers. It remains only to believe in our guys and our pilots."

LINK

Hopefully we can keep up the supply of these things through the winter.

More on this area:

Ukraine's 3rd Assault Brigade is inflicting "massive" losses on enemy troops near Klishchiivka, south of Bakhmut, with "near-constant, small-scale" raiding-and-mauling assaults, while other Ukrainian units have made important gains south of the village, military analyst Tom Cooper says

"Russian losses are massive, while the 3rd is suffering next to none"

LINK
And what will they fight with? Rusted T-34's?

If Ukraine had any sort of modern air force and not stitched together Russian relics they wouldn't be near the positions they are now.

All that is just drivel.
Rail traffic has also been halted.

LINK
While we'll wait and see. I'm sure Ukraine would've preferred to hit the rail bridge rather than the road one. Either way is good news though.

about an hour until the truth is unfolded.

yeah that'll put a dent in the war effort.

Guess that drone attack earlier today really was effective.
My guess? The be used used primarily for the guided munitions they can carry. Also they can easier integrate with NATO missiles/other guided bombs. The F-16 can supposedly track the long range missiles Russia is launching to hit civilians much better than the Mig's/Su-25.

They aren't going to be dogfighting Su-35s. But if they do find them away from AA range they can at least engage much farther way than the Mig-29 they are flying now as well.

Ukraine will use them in the best that ensures their survivability. Much like Himars, getting one destroyed will not be a good look, and Russia will of course celebrate it. The question is which version will they get? The F-16A/B are most common, but they are also the oldest. The C/D are the more modern versions.

I'm still curious why Ukraine hasn't requested additional helicopters other than additional Russian ones they currently fly? Given the initial success the Russian had using their attack helicopters wonder why Ukraine doesn't want to try them?
Morning update from Pegov alias WarGonzo (yes he is alive).

1?AFU attacked east of the M18/E105 east of Kam'yans'ke and took up new important positions
2?AFU advanced along the railway west of Dorozhnyanka
3?AFU took several positions SW of Pavlivka aiming for Yehorivka

Ukraine has also launched a drone attack on Servastopol. Probably going to be unsuccessful but still a nuisance for Russia. LINK

Russian Propagandists aren't happy.

Two coats of Turtle Wax Seal and shine work the same way and it's $15 at Walmart.

The shite lasts forever if applied correctly.
New map from Noel
Kupyansk axis:

A lot of talks about Kupyansk. Yes, Russians do attack in the area, mainly north of Kupyansk near Lyman Pershyi (which was always a RU dominant gray zone) and Pershotraveneve. Apart from Masyutivka, no further gains are made yet. Monitoring the situation.

LINK

And here is Southern Ukraine

Uhhh?

russian TG is saying that
ukraine knew about the upcoming attack from the 1GTA
they have prepped the battle field.
they knew the attack rout
and they knew the units
and when they were going to attack....

so what could go wrong there????
just how long do you think it will take to get to 300k??? only 64K to go... and the 1GTA with the rest of the central military district has about... 75K alone.

or its about 1.333 troops per cluster bomb.
and yes they are attacking in the open.

LINK

russia is trying a battle of the bulge attack directly into a reinforced easy to defend area in the open where 3 arty brigades are with nice new cluster bombs.

Russian 1st Guards Tank Army is going to cease to exist if they keep up the zombie attacks (if this is true). Weren't they the crew that got nearly eliminated in the Kharkiv offensive?
Yeah Turkey wants $20 billion of updated/new F-16's but we won't approve until Sweden is an approved member of NATO (among other issues)

NATO member Turkey requested in October 2021 to buy $20 billion of Lockheed Martin Corp (LMT.N) F-16 fighters and nearly 80 modernization kits for its existing warplanes. President Joe Biden's administration has said it supports the sale and has been in touch for months with Congress to win its approval.

But it has faced opposition, notably from Menendez, over a range of issues, including Turkey's resistance to the ratification of Sweden's NATO membership, concerns about the jailing of journalists and other human rights abuses, and Turkish overflights of Greek airspace.

LINK

Sen. Menendez is quoted in this article back in May but McConnell is also against it.

Here's a newer article:

Turkey argues that the sale of F-16s is a matter related to the broader security of NATO and that it cannot be linked to progress on the membership bid of a candidate country, according to Turkish officials who are directly familiar with the matter. While Turkey wants Sweden to join NATO, it continues to insist the Nordic country must uphold pledges to crack down on terrorism, the officials said.

Sweden lifted a ban on arms sales to Turkey and amended its anti-terrorism laws as part of a deal clinched last year to break the impasse. In Sweden’s view, the new legal measures satisfy its last remaining obligation under an agreement signed at NATO’s Madrid summit to pave the way for ratification.

Ankara has exerted pressure on Sweden to extradite or expel suspects, including supporters of Kurdish separatists, and now wants to hear a solid plan from Stockholm during discussions between the foreign ministers of Turkey, Sweden and Finland on Thursday, the officials said.

Turkey wants to upgrade its F-16 fleet as a stopgap measure until it eventually develops its own jets. Turkey sent a formal request to the US to buy 40 new F-16 Block 70 aircraft and nearly 80 kits from Lockheed Martin Corp. to modernize its existing fighters in the fall of 2021. The Pentagon in 2019 ousted Turkey from the program to buy — and help build — Lockheed Martin’s more advanced F-35 fighter over its purchase of Russian S-400 missile systems on grounds that it might be used to gather intelligence on the stealth jet.

Turkey also wants F-16s. Being on the U.S./Ukraine good side will help that happen as well.

They and China have become adept at doing what's best for them.
ISW: The deployment of almost the entirety of the Russian Eastern Grouping of Forces and extensive Southern Military District elements to the frontline in southern Ukraine suggests that Russian defenses in southern Ukraine may be brittle.

LINK

Tick tok.
If this shortens the war by 6 months I'm sure Ukraine will take that trade. Also only sending the 99/100% explodable versions should help minimize the dud risk.

this may be the reason why all the crazy talk about the nuke plant.
russians are scared. russian media is saying they have located and IDed the 9th and 10th corps of the ukr army and are openly saying they have nothing to stop them when they kick off. right near the nuke plant.

LINK

here is what rybar is posting. in the area behind the plant they have no combat firepower, and on the entire line they only have the 36th RU brigade as a res force... everything from the 19th and 42nd div is engaged. the 20the div was supposed to block but they moved it to bakhmut last month.

LINK

the ONLY units i can see moving are some of the TD battalions or brigades to try to block and buy time for ????. the most probable is the 214th tank... and they are equipped with a mix of T62s and T55s... soooooo

LINK

Here's some speculation about the Russian fears that they have no combat power behind the nuke plant. If it's true could be why Russia has been retreating from that area.
Unconfirmed tweet about cluster munitions to be announced tomorrow by the U.S to send to Ukraine.
