WDE24's Top 5 SEC RB's

The demand was too great to wait until after the holiday to release the initial list for 2013. Please stop texting and emailing me.
For those unfamiliar with this list, it chronicles the top SEC running backs by production on the field to date for the current season. Objective stats, as well as the subjective eye test and quality of opponent are taken into account. However, hype, injuries, suspensions, etc. are not. This isn't a list of most talented or a prediction of NFL draft status. It is just an unbiased look at which 5 SEC RB's are getting the job done the best on the field. As such, this list will likely drastically change each week, especially early in the season.
Without further adieu:
1. Todd Gurley - easiest position to pick. Beast game against the best SEC opponent of the week.
2. Jeff Scott - Great game against a quality opponent on the road and a game winning run to boot. My instincts tell me he won't be on this list for the full season, but he earned his spot this week.
3. Corey Grant - great game and great numbers against an opponent who doesn't appear to be the strongest. His 16.22 ypc on 146 yards rushing were too much to leave off the list despite the questions regarding the opponent.
4. Jonathan Williams - Like Grant, this is another back with a great game and stats against an inferior level defense. Almost left off the list in favor of RBs that did less but against better opponents. In the end, his great stats outweighed the weakness of the opponent.
5. Terrence Magee, great game against a quality opponent. Originally had him just outside the top 5 with Mike Davis in, but the presumed quality of TCU's D won out and edged Magee just ahead of Davis.
Honorable Mention: Mike Davis - Big game on a national stage against a decent opponent.
Others receiving heavy consideration: Rajon Neal, Alex Collins, Henry Josey, Russell Hansbrough and Mack Brown.

He had a great game. This isn't a season's best list it is a list for the first week.

The thread title probably should be "5 Best RB Performances of the Week".
Its kind of misleading.

quote:With 2 TD's against a solid opponent. those great runs count just like the bad ones. All RBs get yards that way. It is early i the season, and this list will change, but it only takes into consideration actual performance.
Lol Terrance Magee had one great run.

quote:It could be, but it is accurate given the criteria for the list is clearly laid out. Also, it aggregates over the year so after week 1, that title would be misleading as well. Those too dumb or lazy to read get to display their ignorance.

I guess, but the thread title is misleading, and that is what people read before opening a thread. Sooo....

We'll see. But 146 yards on 9 carries is nothing to scoff at. Definitely belongs on the list this week.

Instead of just saying "don't think so", it would be nice to see someone constructively argue who else should be on the list in his place.

1. Henry Josey
The rest

Glad to see things working out for Corey. Always thought he would be a better fit for your guy's offense. Although in fairness, I didn't ever really think he would have a great game like.
