I think he is a 4th year junior this year. Redshirted the year he had to sit out.

69 yd touchdown run where CB and safety both had the angle and he took it away the coaches played him conservatively coming back from injury taking him out for 3 and 4 plays at a time

Yeah, I was pretty off. I remember watching his HS film and just thinking "meh" and thinking Bama would be the worst place for him.

Kid is a hard worker, and has earned every good thing he gets.

Now I want him back at Bama.

Yeah, his whole recruitment was strange. He was always at AU games, granted it was right down the road, but I expected him to ultimately flip to AU. He definitely has put in the time and effort, sitting out a year and not complaining about running scout team O.

Ultimately, I think everything worked out as well as it could for him. UA is stacked at RB, and Grant just didn't fit the scheme. I'm just glad a local kid is able to make an impact. Hopefully you guys won't pull Rashaan Evans this year, no offense .

So.... He's better because I think so... You'll have to do better than that. This thread is based on performance.

The demand was too great to wait until after the holiday to release the initial list for 2013. Please stop texting and emailing me.

i appreciate the critique. It would be more helpful if you could explain who you think should be on the list that isn't, who they should replace and why.

Not including TJ Yeldon even on your "Others receiving heavy consideration" section is hilarious. He still had 75 yards and a TD against an extremely good front 7 that loaded the box with 8 or 9 guys. We were also working in 3 new offensive line men.

If you are going to include the eye test and the opponent then he has to have some consideration. You seemed to ignore the shitty defenses many of the guys played against just as much as you ignored how good VT's front 7 is.

Really? I posted my critique right under your post. I'm sorry we played a defense with an actual pulse unlike Wazzu.

I didn't realize piling up stats against shitty opponents makes a guy a Top 5 SEC running back.

Russell Hansbrough

I kept hearing all offseason to expect big things from him and he looked incredible yesterday. Of course, it was against Murray State's defense but definitely something to be excited about moving forward.

He had 17 carries for 75 yards. VTs RB only had 3 more and had 132 yards averaging 2 more YPC, so it's not outside the realm of possibility to rush against a team "loading the box". The rankings are fluid, but as of this week, Yeldon didn't make much happen and isn't on the list. I'm sure he'll be on there moving forward.

You're giving the VT defense too much credit. Everyone expected the Alabama offense to steamroll VT.

We'll see. But 146 yards on 9 carries is nothing to scoff at. Definitely belongs on the list this week.
against Washington State?!

I agree, but not giving him any consideration on a list that says Top 5 SEC RB's is just dumb.

Trent had a terrible first game against Kent State a few years ago to start the season, but I don't think anyone would have possible left him off of this sort of list.

My main point is if we are going to use stats for this season then I can completely understand leaving him off. If you are going to include a subjective view to this list though leaving him off is just dumb. It is hard to put up a ton of stats when you are getting hit in the backfield nearly every play.

Please refer to our two-headed monster at RB as WILCO from now on. Thank you.

I don't have a problem with Yeldon not being mentioned for the first week.

Yep, 16.2 ypc. I'm sure you can find countless Bama backs that averaged 16.2 ypc on 9 carries against an FBS opponent. Hell, while you're at it, FCS.
