While the rest of you are bitching about problems, I'm searching for solutions.

At first glance, this seems a little convoluted. However, after looking at it for a few minutes, it isn't nearly as complicated as it first appears and is by far the best SEC scheduling solution I have seen.

Is there anyone that finds a problem with this concept?

How do we, the lowly minions of the SECRant, get this type of idea on the radar of those that matter?

I remember seeing that before. Aside from seeming complicated, I don't think I could really find any problems with it although I'm sure others will

Damn that's a lot to read. All I know is it wants USC to play Florida, Georgia, and Alabama every single year. frick that.

ETA- Pod D would easily be one of the worst collection of teams in the country w/ Arky, Mizzou, Vandy, and UK. And they'd all get to play each other each year. Arky would win that pod 9 out of 10 years.

why is this thread not getting as many post in it as the other scheduling topics. Probably because it makes sense and the LSU fans 1 have anything to b**** about.

Read the whole thing. This seems like a pretty awesome setup for a scheduling system.

The prospect of only playing certain teams at home once a decade kinda sucks.

This looks awesome. Only possible issue is the divisions being in flux from year to year. If the NCAA doesn't care then I see no reason why we ought to care, either.

I like it. Clever

This will not work. Logic, thought, intelligence and wisdom are out

You must use favoritism, back woods thinking, moon shine clouded knowledge base and down right, good ole boy ciphering to schedule football games

A valiant effort but Mark and Mike want to stay roommates. After all they made their own bed and want to sleep in it

Does A&M get to play Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, LSU, Ole Miss and Mississippi State every single year? If not, do not want.

It's brilliant.

Let's see who has the more difficult schedules based on how teams have fared historically. I'll say that with Sumlin at A&M and their recent success, they'll be considered a tough opponent for the foreseeable future.

Tough games during even years with an 8 game schedule:

Florida: Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Alabama, LSU, A&M

Georgia: Florida, South Carolina, Auburn, Tennessee, LSU, A&M

Tennessee: Auburn, Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Arkansas

Alabama: Tennessee, Auburn, South Carolina, Florida, Arkansas

Auburn: Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas

LSU: A&M, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina

Ole Miss: LSU, A&M, Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Arkansas

Arkansas: Tennessee, Auburn, Alabama, A&M

Just looking at those teams, it looks like LSU and Arkansas would have much easier schedules than others while Georgia, Florida and Ole Miss would be dealing with a very difficult one.

EDIT - Just glancing at the odd years and it looks like it doesn't get any more difficult for LSU and Arkansas. Alabama and Auburn pick up 6 difficult games. As does Tennessee.

Changing the division me members to:

Div A: Div B:
Bama. UF
UGA. LSU
UT. A&M
AU. USC
MSST. MIZZO
OM. ARK
UK. VANDY

That's a balanced split and keeps most of the rivalries intact.

Not that I disagree with the premise of the column, but it does cause me to wonder-why the SEC made no big deal out of not playing everyone in the conference, on a regular basis, prior to expansion?

Cases in point, Florida and Tennessee did not play from 1956-1968, yet the conference got-along just fine. Georgia and Bama did not play from 66-71. Ole Miss and Florida did not play from ... well, let's put it this way. They've only played 23 times in the entire history of the conference, several times going a decade or more between games. MSU and Kentucky have only played 40 times, most of those coming after expansion.

Conversely, Georgia and South Carolina have played 62 times and only twice going more than five years between games, once in the 20s and once in the 40s.

So I contend that playing one another on a regular basis is not as important to the conference as some here may be suggesting.

I would personally love this.

If you have a problem with playing a tough schedule every now and then maybe you should not be a fan of the game.

Whats that saying, if you cant stand the heat, DIAF?

The only change I would make is that Tennessee needs to be in the SEC East pod and Florida needs to be in the SEC South pod.

What if you suggest a manage a tois? The one you're currently dating will be disgusted and tell her roommate. Her roommate will be intrigued and flattered. The gf dumps you and then the now flattered roommate is easy pickings.

If everything goes belly up, you get a 3-way!
