Gene Chizik's 1st 2 years as a HC- 5-19...Mullen was 13-11 in a much tougher conference
To even act like coaching at Auburn and coaching at State is starting even is ridiculous- Auburn is the way better program remember?
And Mullen's 2 NC's and offensive numbers as an OC > Cheeze as a DC

Yep Chiz's 5-19 record at Iowa State is astounding.
If Chizik inherited the Mississippi State job when Mullen did I really believe his record would be similar to what he did at ISU

When most of his wisn came against sun belt schools and ole miss. he lost to everyone worth a shite in conference.

2 undefeated seasons, 1 NC. he had some great players at Auburn and Texas. Mullen still has yet to beat him as a HC, last year was your best shot.

I'm kind of surprised at the amount that feel Chizik is a better take than Miles.
Les' track record is far superior.

Mullins must love the fact that Miss. State fans will always be content with 6-6 and 7-5 seasons as long as he beats Ole Miss. He could never beat any other school in his division and they would still say he is the best coach other than Saban He really can do no wrong.
No, I just find it funny how every day is spent on here telling State fans how they are the worst program in the SEC historically- but when you compare Mullen to other coaches- he is supposed to start on even ground. To act like LSU and State start on even ground to begin each season and Les is better coach because he wins more games is assinine. Let them switch positions and see if Miles still wins 11-12 games a season at State. We both know that answer

I do get the vibe that Gene is probably more hands on, though.
Outside of just trolling (which given your history is the most likely conclusion), what on earth would give you that impression. Chizik is a defensive guy who has had success with two other great defensive minds leading a team. If he were hands on, his defense would never be the dumpster fire he has fielded on the plains. He is a linebacker guy and they have been pretty bad since his arrival. So again, what would give you that impression? Do you think he sucks at coaching defense or do you think Auburn's defense has been good?

Les Miles' results really do make a strong case, but he is a little off. I actually like him for that, but it is a factor in considering your question. But then, I'm not sure why his teams are so good. I'm not sure what value he's actually responsible for, considering he's an offensive coach that has led a very one-dimension offense the past few years.
As good as LSU was last year, people on this forum seem to have completely forgotten how a huge portion of the fanbase wanted him fired a couple years ago.
Like someone else said, at this point the only person I'd risk taking over Chizik is Saban. The other coaches, who very well may be better than Chizik, aren't better enough, or have enough hypothetical questions to where I'm sitting happy where we are.

Mississippi State is the destitute man's Arkansas. We have the best coach in America, results be damned. More with less, etc.

Mullen won more SEC games his 1st 2 seasons- (7), than Chizik won GAMES period his 1st two seasons

Well if that's your standard of judgement, LSU's offenses (post-Jimbo) have been pretty unremarkable under Miles.

Others aren't the ones that are trying to put forth the point of view that Mullen is the best coach, not just in the conference, but in the country. You don't want to answer for his results, quit shoving that viewpoint in every MSU related post that isn't about how Stansberry is the Mullen of basketball.

Les Miles owns the best offense in school history (Jimbo was nowhere in sight). Two of the top three ever, and led the conference in rushing and scoring last year. Hmmm . . .
If you're going to troll at least know what you are talking about.

I don't think anybody would say Les would get that many wins at Miss. State. I have no doubt he would struggle at State for the first few years at least just like Saban would due to the problems there. However, State fans make the exact same assumptions, (just from the opposite standpoint) when they assume Mullins "would of course be a better coach he will just never have a chance to prove it at State."
If Les were Larry Coker don't you think he would have fallen off by now after 7 years instead of making the program stronger and more consistant then when he started?

Throw in Chavis and lets talk...

But why are Les' offenses so one-dimensional?
Of course you had good raw numbers, but where did having a shitty arse passing attack for the 4th year in a row get you in the big game?

*Checks total offense numbers* *sees Auburn is 9th in ppg and ypg* *doesn't feel a need to dignify it with a response*
Very diverse offense you run on the plains. Good job!

Sure I do- his results are way above the average for a coach at State. When you are much more successful in a place than it usually is- you must be doing something right.
Nobody has said he is the best coach in the SEC, but in 3 seasons he has done a good job and has to be considered in the top half based on results as compared to previous performance before he arrived
