They're kinda stuck until Jim makes up his mind.
I thought he was gone for sure, but now it looks like there's a chance he's staying.

Yeah I think we're over-thinking this. The simplest explanation is there's a verbal agreement but nothing signed and a well connected reporter in Mississippi got wind of it.

I don't get why T-Will's name isn't mentioned for any of these G5 jobs, especially UAB.

Any chance Trovon can use that LA magic on De'Coldest?
re: Scott Rabalais: Search is "unsettled", hasn't gone the way LSU would have liked
Posted by LA kid but AU fan on 11/28/21 at 8:42 pm
This seems really weird to me. LSU is a top 5 job in the country. If an Auburn or Tennessee coaching search goes off the rails, that's not really surprising. But candidates should be lining up to coach in Baton Rouge.
So for the time being, I'm gonna assume Rabalais is exaggerating things for clicks.

I'm going. Taking my 8 year old. I warned him before hand that the Aggies are SUPER weird.

Do we have a shot with this Drayk Bowen kid? I figure ND has a shot since the kid is from Indiana and Clemson has a shot since they're Clemson. Are we on the outside looking in?

I hope so as much as the next guy.
But he's the most healthy looking 74 year old I've ever seen and he has 0 desire to do anything else unfortunately.

I am super grateful that Greene stopped the money folks from installing Steele or some other less than desirable hire, took control of the search, and ended up hiring a qualified outsider like Harsin.
That alone earned him enough good will from me that I'll be pissed if they let him go. It's hard for me to let budget cuts in a pandemic year with a massive buy-out to pay overrule that.

McPherson liked a meme I tweeted about him a couple months ago, so I'm gonna take credit for this one, fellas.

Yeah, Big Kat wasn't bad by any stretch, but I doubt he's the 5th best transfer. Too few pass rush skills for a DE.

The details of the extension being reported publicly and the board meeting happening now to vote on it is a clear indication Mario has agreed in principle to stay at Oregon. They wouldn't be this far in the process if that wasn't the case.
Could he not sign and come to Auburn? Possible I suppose, but it would basically be leaving Oregon at the altar at this point. 95% chance MC is no longer an option for us IMHO.

I don't know which would be worse, that we offered MC good money and he turned us down for less to stay at Oregon, or that we didn't offer MC good money.

If he can go, and he has that speed, and he's looking at a new staff if he stays, I don't see any reason why he wouldn't go to the draft.

He basically thinks Auburn should be happy just winning 8 games a year. He has no respect for Auburn.
I've never heard him say this explicitly. He repeatedly says Auburn is the hardest job in America, which I agree with.
He lost me this preseason when he called the new schedule fair. That was a joke.

I do think Cristobal is very similar to Kirby Smart. He clearly is a lights out recruiter and is going to build both lines of scrimmage which is a great recipe for winning. But recruiting alone is not going to win Championships. While Kirby has owned Auburn because 1) he has clearly out-recruited Gus and 2) because he clearly had Gus' offense figured out, he has fallen flat on his face against Alabama and LSU. He really hasn't won any big games when the talent levels are equal.
Agree with all of this. An important distinction between Cristobal and Smart though: Smart's biggest problem is an inability to field a dynamic offense. Cristobal doesn't appear to have the same problem.

My guess. We thought we had MC locked up, MC is staying at Oregon with a big raise. Folks are against Freeze for many reasons.
This is absolutely it. We missed and now we're scrambling. Not a good place to be in.

LSU certainly isn't the only one. Those outlets are just as happy to run a story about Auburn.
But you are are right they're definitely NOT gonna run one about Alabama.
