Chizik - I think he's a good coach. He is recruiting really well, and time will tell how good of a coach he really is. IMO, his record at Iowa State means nothing. Who can coach at Iowa State and win every year? Seriously. Yeah, there was Cam. But Urban Meyer did not get it done Tebow's last year, so what does that mean?

Miles - "he came into a very good situation, ie: Saban built it, Miles really did/does not have to do much to sustain it". See the University of Miami, Nebraska, Michigan, etc. Heck, even Alabama. Any school. You have to have a very good coach to sustain something like that.

If alabama doesn't get bypassed into the game due to an unprecedented, non-transparent, inherently corrupt, broken and obsolete bcs system, people wouldn't be having this discussion. Any other year in bcs history we'd be talking about Les' 2nd chip and the fact that he helped lay the foundation for Ok St to be playing in it. That wasn't a coincidence. But Les is unpopular and the media wanted Nick in that game. There's so much fail in this thread I don't even know where to begin. I'll just point out that philosophically, Les and Nick are essentially the same guy, at least on offense. They run the same style of offense and rely heavily on playing great defense. Their formulas are the same except that Les puts a lot more emphasis on special teams and is more willing to take chances, which usually pays off when they meet head to head. Cizik and Mullen both caught lightning in a bottle with unstoppable qbs, but it seems that neither of them really know exactly what they want their teams to be on a yearly basis other than to just win ballgames. Les may be quirky, but the guy has 35 years of coaching winning football under his belt.

I'll also add that none of us knows what's going on behind the scenes with au recruiting but it certainly doesn't seem legit. Suffice it say that Chizik is a good fit as long as Lowder says he is. That's not a recipe for stability and I don't think Les would want any part of it. Just ask T. Boone Pickens if you don't agree with me.

Let's keep todays daily Chizik thread here. No need to start a new one.

But there are still 10 other coaches to compare him to. I believe Mullen, Franklin, and Miles have been covered.

Everything you said is true to the letter. People forget LSU was on one of the greatest runs in college football history with only Les Miles players without any player like Cam Newton on the team.

Again, its been said but its true. Anyone that wouldn't take Les,over Gene is simply a homer. Also look up the facts at OSU. Miles turned that program around and look where they are at today? Coincidence, I think not.

So, Miles gets credit for what is happening at OSU today. But, Saban doesn't get credit for the success LSU is currently having?

Gotcha.

Did you see me say Saban don't deserve credit? I am sticking with SECR logic that Saban built the LSU program. Why shouldnt Les get the same courtesy for OSU? If we are comparing apples to apples then why isn't it the same?

You don't see ISU being built on the legacy of the Chiz... He hurt that program more than he helped it and we are comparing coaching careers to pick the better coach.

No I didn't see you say Saban don't deserve credit. I just assumed you would be adhering to typcial tiger rant logic.
My apologies, you might be the first LSU fan to publically admit this.

How would you dole out the credit for LSU making it to the BCSCG this past year (percentage-wise)?

70% Miles / 30 % Saban?

Agree. Teh Chizz was such an abortion at ISU. Kind of amazing that he's had any type of success at Auburn. Things that make you scratch your head...

Why is he 0-6 against those two then?

Great clock management by the guy who "can actually coach" at the end of that 2011 AU/MSU game.

How many years will Miles have to maintain the program (actually bring it to a higher level then Saban ever did)? I feel confident he could coach for another decade and some of his critics will still say it's because of a coach who was here 2 decades ago. We are way past Coker time period, 8 years later. It's funny how Meyer gets all the credit for his NC in year 2. What about Zook talent already there? How about Hallman in 90? Why couldn't he continue the winning tradition of the 88 SEC Champ tiger team just 2 years prior? After all, it's so easy in LA to recruit anybody can do it

Why is it so important to you that a fan of another team want Miles as their team's coach rather than their own (in Auburn's case, a coach 99% of AU fans are satisfied with)?

Is your self-esteem really invested that much in LSU football and in Les Miles?

I personally don't know very many LSU fans that don't admit Saban brought LSU to another level as a football program.

About as much credit as I'd give Shula credit for Saban's visit (0%).......This IS, and has been since 2007, Les Miles' team now.

Chiz loses to Bama again in 2012 and 13 and he's in serious trouble, regardless of what he's done up to that point.

Such a great run there had to have been some point in time where y'all didn't lose a game in a season.

Right?

I agree with this sentiment. I know people talk snack on here but the majority if LSU fans are very grateful for the good CNS did around here.

Dude, I admit we lost. Still takes nothing away from beating 8 ranked teams, the number 2,3,4 ranked teams in the country and beat old rivals by over 30 points more than once in a season.

That's amazing no matter how u shape it. But yes we lost the BCSNCG. Bama was the better team that night, you will never hear me say otherwise.
