Have to get through Hofstra, of course, and then likely Texas Tech. Win those two and that would put us in the SS against Michigan where we would get waxed.

I personally think anything after today would be playing with house money, especially without Holloway.

Yes!! Injuries all year..got pretty much nothing out of the portal guys we signed and now the Holloway stuff. Absolutely the Sweet 16 is a successful season imo!!
That being said, I’m hoping for more!!

I think finishing 2nd in the Sec when picked to finish 5th is already a pretty damn good down year

If we make the sweet 16, we should all get on our hands and knees to thank God. We’ve not really come together like hoped and lost our 2nd leading scorer for the season due to reefer madness.

Would tying the second deepest tournament run in pre-Oats history a successful year? Of course.

Making it to R32 makes is a successful season. This roster has serious limitations and has dealt with injuries + off court shite.

Oats is starting to become a victim of his own success here. Our fans are having some unreasonable expectations.

Big time. Carryover from football I guess. Any success MUST BE CONTINUED every single season or it's a COMPLETE FAILURE..

I say yes. My expectations for a successful year for the program are to compete for the league title, finish top 4 in the league and make the second weekend. Anything beyond that is gravy to me. And I’m lenient on the second weekend. Winning tournament games is hard. Any tournament wins are a great accomplishment.

Texas Tech will be a tall task, but if we can get the same level out of Sherrell and TBB, I think we can do it.

I think so. We missed on all the transfers.

If we hit on just 1 of them its a final 4 team.

What’s crazy about the transfer misses this year is it is really the first time it’s happened. Oats has a high hit rate in the portal but this was an unfortunate year to whiff on all of them because the roster really only needed one big to hit.

Conversely, he hit pretty big on the recruiting class. Allen has been superb; London Jemison makes Herb Jones-esque plays; and Davion Hannah was looking very solid before injury.

Maybe we just need to load our NIL on recruiting classes for Oats.

Yes.

If we lose tomorrow, I’ll feel pretty neutral about the season. Essentially that would be “meets expectations.” Lose the first game and it would have been a pretty big disappointment to end the season on 2 bad tourney losses where we were double digit favorites. Win tomorrow and we’ll have 4 straight sweet 16s, which is insanely good!

We always want to win the next one. I'd say a round of 32 loss, coupled with opening round loss of SEC tournament would stain an otherwise above expectations season.
A sweet 16 would be on par with what we are hoping.
Putting the cart before the horse, I am fearing what could happen against Michigan.
