“I think through eight games, Ty Simpson’s tape from Alabama, I think, is significantly more impressive than Fernando Mendoza’s,” he declared.

It Bama only had a better protection... and a ground game... filed here, under 'what could have been'

Exhibit #3,875,412 in the case for why Mizzou never should have been invited to the SEC.

Ty has great passing talent and likely will do better away from Deboer and Grubb. They didn't understand how to bring out the best in him because they have serious coaching flaws.

What are DeBoer’s serious coaching flaws that hindered Ty this past year? Please try to be specific, not something like, “he’s just not a good coach”, etc. Thanks

Deboer-1) Just look at how Ty was manged and there is your example. 2) He likes and agrees with Grubbs coaching philosophy: Weak, finesse, bi-polar.

I dont think Ty sucked. We had no running game at all.

I do think Ty choked after he threw that first INT. It was clearly in his head every snap the rest of the season.

Being in pain doesnt make you look like a lost toddler in target.

I love Ty but I dont know if hes mentally ready yet to be that guy. He just needs time

That’s why I hope he ends up with the Rams. If he’s thrown to start immediately in some perpetual dumpster fire franchise like the Jets that might be it for him

You mean where the cut out the deep ball from the offense to highlight him as a midrange passer because statistically pre-injury he was one of the worst in the country at throwing vertically?

How specifically was he mismanaged as it relates to your critique?

Its fair not to like the air raid, but it is the dominant system in football right now at both levels. Its also important to note we had one of the worst OLs from a run blocking perspective in modern program history. So were you wanting them to run power with a broken QB and an OL that they inherited that was so bad we could barely get people bent backwards against Eastern Illinois?

Once a defense realizes you cant throw deep, you cant run and your QB is hurt there's really only so much you can do schematically to generate yardage and we were doing it at an elite level pre-injury (FEI top 10 offense with no run game post Missouri).

As someone who watched us in person almost all year and at two road games we just weren't that talented offensively once Jam got hurt and RW had his mental and physical issues.

There was no one they had to double team, nothing they needed to worry about on the ground and they could cheat safeties up because we couldn't stretch the field. None of that is coaching, its players who were injured or limited relative to past teams.

Evidently Nick Saban and Tommy Rees didn't either based on that South Florida shitshow.

This dude is the Falcons OC now. I don't have any strong opinions on him good or bad, but he must be so good at interviewing that he has them asking if he'd like to meet their daughters at the end of it.

This, but the “run the damn bawll, Pawll” crowd will never hear it because it’s in their very DNA as to how they view the sport.

Orlovsky was a pretty stout college quarterback and was a backup quarterback in the NFL for a dozen years so he’s actually worn a jock, read a playbook, watched film for real, been in position meetings, thrown touchdown passes and had his arse sacked. He’s not just a media talking head. He also takes his role with ESPN seriously, supposedly he watches and breaks down film of six or seven full NFL games, start to finish, before he does their NFL show on Monday morning.

I would think his credibility is quite strong and that if he says something it carries some weight. Of course people can be wrong, James Spann was wrong about the weather in Trussville and Pinson yesterday.
