Golden making a career out of finding lightly recruited players who simply out effort their opponents.

Effort with upside seems to be his recruiting strategy. Even if the upside doesn't pan out the effort still has a huge impact. Good example is Handlogten who hasnt developed offensively at all in his 3 years. But he'll always be 1 of the best rebounders in the country because he's big, not a complete stiff, and out efforts his opponent.

Haugh, Condon, and Chinyelu are examples of the upside coming to fruition.

IDK but I can tell you that McMahon's strategy of recruiting low effort guys and getting them to play below their talent level isn't working at LSU.

I don't know. It probably helps to be over 6 feet tall and super athletic.

It's nice to see him looking out for the little guys- I mean, as long as they're 7 feet.

Being able to score is the most important quality. Either shooter or driver.

Give me a talented kid with motor and effort all day long over an extremely talented kid that is lazy and puts forth little effort....and that goes for all sports.

People like Tom Brady and Brett Favre excelled due to their work ethic, even though many overlooked their talent.

Favre played at Southern Mississippi (Although he did get drafted in the 2nd round...but his coach said a plane crash would have to occur for him to start a game) Brady was picked in the 6th round of the NFL Draft.

There's nothing worse than a talent player that's lazy. True story.

We seem to win when we shoot better than our opponent.

They are rare qualities in a world with kids having their hand out to get paid. Most are just lazy bitches looking for their next handout.

Whoever does their evals for their bigs, should be the highest paid assistant in the country. Wish Nate knew how to do evals on bigs like this.

Would be nice, but this is not an option for us.

Did motor and effort make all those 3s for Walter Clayton go in at the end of last year? Because so far that's what Golden is hanging his hat on

I think we may get a clue to the answer to this question from A&M the next three games. The Aggies have put together a pretty good season with its bunch of short no name scrappers. The Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Vandy games have and will be against more talented and bigger players. Buckyball has been fairly successful so far.

Yup, nobody likes a diva. A high energy guy is giving you his level best & is a lot easier to root for

Being able to score the basketball seems to be the biggest difference between winning and losing. Not that motor and effort aren't important but you gotta have the whole package or at least most of it.
