Can’t really explain it but I look at him in the colors and hear him talk and it feels off. Just kinda feels like it’s not going to work. Feel kinda bad for Auburn. Cam Newton ain’t walking through that door. They are going to be irrelevant for a long time.

You mean like Harsin? Because he certainly wasn't a fit from day 1.

I'll admit that I am very much a "can I see this guy being a legend at Auburn/the Braves/etc." person and making judgments based on it

For sure, Golesh doesn't strike me as the type to get a statue outside of JHS. But who knows. I think he'll probably beat LSU next year.

Last good fit there was Tubberville, maybe Gus.

I feel differently. I think he will do well….and I am no fan of Auburn.

I would say Kiffin will not last longer at LSU than Golesh at Auburn.

he definitely comes off as a normal guy and a student of the sport, and not an egotistical prick or a goofy neurodivergent nerd, which are the types of HCs we normally attract

that fact alone gives me reason for optimism

This is a bad take. He did some good things at USF. Whether or not that translates to the SEC is the unknown. It certainly didn't translate for Sun Belt Billy or Grinding Brian.

If he wins he'll fit in fine, am I right?

Auburn should have never fired Malzahn

Adding Texas and Oklahoma pushed Auburn even further down the SEC pecking order.

If you're old enough, every new hire in the SEC probably seems weird at some point because deep down we're still used to seeing (and playing for) old-school Southern gentlemen.

ADs used to be country guys who could juggle a calendar, and they slowly morphed into highly-accredited CEOs.

With NIL and the transition to NFL-lite, the coaches are doing that too, because they have to be multi-million-dollar personnel managers.

In a few decades, across the board football has gone from this to this...

All of it seems weird.

Golesh has a hydro magnetic drive that you guys won’t hear coming.
