Well that’s track with our offense and why the deep ball wasn’t there.

The deep ball was never there. Deep ball accuracy is just not a strength for Ty, and it's not because of a back injury that happened about halfway through the season.

Tuscaloosa News also reported shortly after the season that he dealt with elbow bursitis and gastritis (why he couldn't eat, lost about 8 pounds) during the back stretch of the season. Plus the cracked ribs in the Indiana game. Ty was a warrior out there for us, and was a lot more banged up than people realized.

Mad respect for his toughness but why was he playing? Sorry but there is toughness and then there is stupidity.
I am not saying Mack was better or worse but damn, At what point does a coach not step in and say, “son, you’re a tough son of bitch, but you’re not helping your team.”

Well they didn't know he actually had a fracture until halftime when he got x-rays. He said basically he tried to give it a go, realized he was holding the team back, and told the coaches to put Mack in.

Thanks for posting this.
Even up to the last couple weeks I was somehow getting in arguments with people who refused to believe there was any sort of serious issue.
Pre-Injury: 184 RTG, 16/1 TD/INT, 280YPG

He shouldn’t have been playing. But we are where we are.

I don't think deep ball is as big of a deal as him being able to make the 20-35 yard intermediate throws that he does so well. It's not like he absolutely sucks at the deep ball, heck the one he threw to Ryan Williams in the UGA game was absolutely beautiful but RW dropped. Does his deep ball need work? Probably, but the what he does best are the throws he's going to be asked to make the most in the NFL. I think he'll be fine.

Yep. I agree that he should have been on the sideline.
No running game, OL issues, a QB with broken bones, bulging discs, elbow issues.
Ha, damn.

His inability to hit on deep fades and posts exacerbated the issues we had in the running game as teams were able to load the box without the threat of being beat deep. Once teams started to take away the intermediate throws, we couldn't do anything on offense.

Yeah, the disturbing thing is our #2 was so unprepared to start that we kept rolling Ty's broken body back out there.
Your backup is the backup for a reason, but the gap in competency can't be THAT severe if your starter gets injured.

Yeah I'll say it again.
Coaching malpractice.
Lucky that Ty is getting his.
Because this could have had legal implications on the coaching and medical staff.

Good question for the DeBoer fanboys...

Thats not true. I remember Ryan Williams dropping a ball in stride against Georgia. I think the issue was that Ty never had time for a deep ball route to work

This is where most Bama fans are/were. You can put the question mark in front or after sorry it doesn’t matter

Better a fanboy of the coach of the team I root for...than a fanboy of the LSU coach than hasnt even ever won a division

Agreed, I guess this shows the lack of confidence in Mack to get it done against high level competition.
I heard from a co-worker who knew someone connected with the program midway through the season about the bulging disc. Just terrible luck that impacted the ceiling of this team. Injuries are the great neutralizer.

Okay, if you want to be pedantic about it, sure, he had a handful of nice deep shots over the course of 15 games. However, he was not consistent enough to force any defense to respect those routes.

So DeBoer could make Ty a scapegoat, and nobody would figure out that he hasn't developed Mack in three years.
It's the only logical conclusion.
