How did Alabama pay players pre-NIL?

It’s pretty obvious that the SEC went off a cliff after NIL. It’s also suspicious that Saban felt he couldn’t stick around much longer after NIL….like his time at the Dolphins.

Did Alabama have some sort of master laundering operation where they could buy the best talent behind the scenes better than anyone else?

All seriousness, how’d they do it and what was their secret sauce?

Just about every coach in playoffs has been a Saban assistant and you think Bama needed to cheat?

This is known. Also, look up Trent Richardson, his ride, the rental house they got, and mom's job.

I want to know why we decided not to pay them starting in the mid to late 80s.

Google Logan Young and Albert Means..that was just the tip of the iceberg..think about what the really good players were getting..not like other schools weren't doing it too but Ole Miss got hammered by the NCAA for taking recruits to a strip club in Memphis outside of the recruiting area...NOT PAYING PLAYERS...SMH

Red Dodge Chargers from their local Dodge dealership, and a North Louisiana Bag man. That’s how Tricky Nicky and Bammer got all those 5* players

I think Saban quit coaching because he couldn't stand today's players.

To play devils advocate, if there wasn't a fat payday and you were an elite prospect wouldn't you want to go to the program guaranteed to win a natty and have a good chance to send you to the NFL?

How. Because the NCAA was more worried about schools like Southern Mississippi and putting their petty tennis team on probation while a player and his whole family are moved from Hawaii and family given jobs at a powerful SEC school and nothing happened. That’s how
