Effectively 2-7 in bowl games (4-9 overall but you can discount the SEC vs SEC games).

If Ole Miss doesn't go all the way this is probably the worst post-season in modern SEC history.

I’d agree but bowl games are meaningless now and not an accurate gauge imo. Playoffs all that matters.

As much as I would like to see ole piss win it all, it just isn’t going to happen. They played there best game they will ever play Thursday night. I don’t see them repeating that performance again. I hope I’m wrong but I don’t think so

I heard one media guy say to move the bowl game to the first game of the next season.

I was like, that sounds crazy but it makes more sense because it puts value on that game and it'd be a helluva kick off to the season.

Essentially the conference champ game and only the playoffs are the games after the season.

Except this has been the excuse ever since SEC teams started "not wanting to be there".

I think the thing people are missing is ever since we went to an expanded playoff, teams have to win it on the field. In the past, due to the media buy in on SEC superiority, SEC teams got the benefit of the doubt. If this year were like the old system, UGA automatically gets into the final four or in the really old system, gets into the championship game. But as field results show, they wouldn't have deserved it.

I mean ever since opt outs it’s been a true statement. The teams that are on the field on both sides aren’t the true teams of each respective school.

Can’t really argue with this.

And while there are ALOT of problems with the playoffs as they are now, I’d much rather see it play out on the field than see bias continue to propel undeserving teams.

I have not watched one game outside of the playoffs. The bowl games are dead and only good to show case some players who want to put on a show to get the highest pay day to where they transfer eventually and for coaches they get an extra few weeks to work with younger players and get them meaningful reps for the next season if they can actually hold on to them and they don’t transfer as well.

Very convenient reasoning after the SEC got its arse kicked this bowl season. I guess we'll have to remember this if there's ever a time in the future when the SEC has a good bowl season.

When bowl opt-outs started happening it made bowl games less and less relevant, no doubt.

I watched fewer bowl games this year than ever. I have caught all of the CFP games.

Something definitely needs to be fixed regarding the CFPs. There have been 8 teams receive first round byes. Those 8 teams are 1-7. That is not just a coincidence. That long lay-off has got to be addressed.

No, just since the portal. A perfect example was OU's bowl game last year (and the year before) We were playing Navy 20 players and like 7 starters, including QB short. Navy, a good team, has zero opt outs. That game would have been MUCH different in the regular season. I feel like if bowl games continue, we treat them like the exhibitions they are and they don't count on the record.

Oregon and Indiana are really bad matchups for the Rebs because of how well they run the ball but Miami should an easier test than Georgia. Might not play our best but might not have to either.

Texas beat Michigan so it wasn’t a total loss

Ole miss is probably beating Miami. I don’t keep up with canes but the two playoff games they’ve played in were the most physical. I don’t see the roster being able to hold up.

The thing that makes me comfortable about Miami is that the offense played amazing against great defenses this year. The most similar opponent the Rebs had was Oklahoma and they went to Norman and dropped 34 no problem. What scares me is an offense that can do what Georgia did in the first meeting—run the ball, control the clock, and keep the ball away from the Reb offense. Rebel defense is well-coached but does not have championship-level talent like last year’s unit.
