The hope was that Deboer keep things rolling at aa fairly high level.

IMO, it was a travesty we were in the playoffs. We are a mid tier conference team.

The fact is, Deboer just doesnt come across as too bright. I though we were getting an offensive guru, and he seems more like a Gomer Pyle.

I think we should shift about 5 million in NIL money over to the basketball prigram and try and keep Oats around.

And of course, no extension.

Greg Byrne is a dumbass so don’t expect to see any changes whatsoever.

Byrne made a huge mistake here with Cignetti sitting right there at JMU. You would think Saban would have an inkling he would be a legit HC. I guess he had no influence in the hire?

Look, I follow college basketball. I started the original basketball recruiting thread on this forum. But this take is retarded.

Football is infinitely more important than basketball at any school that plays a semblance of major college football. That includes supposed basketball schools like Indiana, Kentucky, etc.

There’s a reason UConn isn’t in a power conference.

I cannot keep up with y’all.

So you’re saying we’d have given the JMU coach a chance as a fanbase?

It looks to me like y’all’s rage is complete bs. The “you must be fired for hiring Grubb” shite is telling. The whole fricking board wanted him and now some of y’all are acting like you knew it was the only thing keeping Alabama from winning a natty

Everybody wants Cig now, huh?

Exactly. Bama had a set criteria which Cig didn't meet. I criticized that criteria for being shortsighted.

The idea Bama should have hired the guy with 2 years at James Madison to replace Nick Saban is preposterous. It’s 100% hindsight. He ended up Indiana for a reason.

Cig was already at Indiana when Saban retired. Hardly anyone knew who he even was.

No one in the country thought Cignetti was elite at that point which is why he was at JMU and his jump up job was the worst P4 team in the nation.

Think about how shitty this team looked after the FSU game. Now imagine you time travelled and told September you that this team would look WORSE in three more games including their last game of the season than they did against FSU. And the last game was the rose bowl quarter final. Your mind would be blown.

Can we stop with the Cignetti stuff? He’s too old and is not leaving Indiana.

I agree. And his success there still may not translate to success here.

I don’t think anyone should be fired for hiring Grubb, but I do think the Grubb experiment should be rightfully short lived. I’d hope DeBoer would be willing to adapt play style to the roster he has or can attain. If that means a different scheme, then so be it. But as it stands this offense is absolutely toothless against any defense with two capable cover men and two solid pass rushers. Obviously run support isn’t a requirement for opposing defenses, either.
