Is the break between the regular season and CFP, helping or hurting?

While being off is helpful with injuries, it seems to hurt with teams getting cold.

What say you?

There are some teams with three weeks off facing off against teams with only ten days off.

So there is a difference.

Last year the teams with a first round game (Penn State, Notre Dame, Texas, OSU) all went on to defeat their opponent with a bye.

Hurts. The teams with byes are getting robbed. Too much time off and don’t get a home game. Lower seeds get home game and a warm up at that.

This is my feeling as well. Just too long not to be hitting an opponent and game mentality

I think the CCG week should be canned and go to 16 teams with no byes.

Play first round, quarters, and semifinals in the first three weeks of December. Take a week off for Christmas then play the CFPCG on NYD.

I thinn it should be right after the conference championships (or that weekend when conference do away with conference championships) and give them a break before the championship ship game

Would make for a brutally long season, but I can see the appeal.

Last year you had two teams that wouldn't have a first round bye this year. PSU and Texas were better and more talented than BSU and ASU. Oregon ran into a buzz saw and Georgia was playing a back up QB, though 2014 Ohio State proved that a back up can be made ready to play. I wouldn't put alot of stock into how teams with a bye played last year

Doesn't matter as long as it applies to every team.

Agreed, after this year we’ll have a little better idea of the bye effect on the top 4z

Yes, they may have to deal with a little rust.

But it is still better to get the bye and not risk elimination playing en extra game.

I think they should get rid of CCGs, get rid of a bye week, and try to wrap the whole thing up by early January. Its ridiculous the playoffs are going on while the portal window is open. Last year you had PSU's backup QB transfer out in the middle of the playoffs... Whose to say eventually a starter gets a mega offer to transfer and decides to opt out the playoffs?
