Can we stop obsessing with the run game

We are 14 games into the season. We are not suddenly going to develop a ground game. We are who we are with the players that we have. I share your frustration with the predictable 1st down one yard gain. Got it. We have managed to work around it so far. Every team has warts. I am more frustrated with the goofy trick plays and WR drops. We can produce enough points to win with our defense. Give up on the run game. You will feel better for it.

I agree, Bama is who they are at this point. While I miss having a pounding run game, it's just not a strength of this team. Actually is an endorsement of CKD coaching acumen to have gotten this team into the quarterfinals with such a glaring deficiency.

Doesn’t that quick little passing game sort of substitute for a run game?

Grubb is a very odd OC. If I were an HC, he would not be calling plays for my offense.

He struggles with getting a rhythm or setting up future plays. In his defense, it’s hard to utilize play action, for example, when no one respects the run.

Oats didn’t give up on the 2024 team being able to play serviceable defense in the postseason despite being very poor at it over the whole season.

I, for one, am glad he didn’t give up on it and greatly enjoyed the trip to Phoenix - especially when we were up on UConn with 12 minutes to go. It was a big stadium but we were screaming as loud as we could hoping we could pull a miracle.

I’m hoping to watch us run for 150 on Indiana with their best DT out, but won’t hold my breath.

We aren't going to be a great rushing offense, but I sure would love to see us be able to run effectively enough to get the play action going and keep teams from playing on the pass.

At this juncture, I'd love to see a 3 digit rushing total but just want the primary ball carrier to average 4 per.

I wouldn’t try to run on obvious rushing downs. And I wouldn’t try to run on obvious passing downs.

I still think we need to play with tempo and not slow Simpson to change the plays.

I don't think we are obessed with run game... I think you probably dont' realize that in UGA game, they took away the game, and brought extra player down to LOS, and dare us to throw the ball. They couldn't get anything done...

So we need to establish the running game in every game they play... If they can get at least 50 yards... It's a win. OU, LSU, Auburn, Georgia ... IJS.

Good new is that almost everyone will be healthy by the time they play IU, so we'll see how the running game finally will look with everyone healthy.

Daniel Hill needs to play 85% of snaps, the run game needs to be more outside stuff and under center sprinkled in, and we might bust 1-2 and get 2-4 yards on the rest.

That's the best case scenario.

Yeah, completely agree. I've been beating this drum since the middle of the year.

We are in a different era of football. You can have a pass oriented attack with no ground game at all and have it work for you, provided you mix up your passing attack to work around whatever the defense is showing at you.

In fact rather than trying to force the run, I'd completely abandon it.

Handing the ball to Jam Miller for 1 yard up the middle accomplishes nothing and wen you call the play, you know that's what's going to happen. Just stop doing it.

When we started to have success down field, hill started to break some. That’s good enough.

We had some guy fantasizing about Bama running the I-formation. Well, they did late in the game Friday night and I don’t think they netted a yard out of all the plays combined.

Im definitely a minority but I like Grubb. Im interested to see what he can do next year, especially with Crowell who looks to be the best RB prospect weve had in years
