My brain still operates that way sometimes. Divisions are better within a huge conference because there are to many teams and it cuts them in half and more clearly defines who makes the conference title games. I know this year it would have been bama uga but still

Take down that Bama flag Sport. You're fooling anybody. You actually work for this site. (with your other 20 names)

A couple years ago I gave up entertaining my own thoughts and feelings about what ought to be. Because the reality and decisions made are ultimately the opposite of what I wanted. So I stopped wanting, and my blood pressure is lower and my weight is lower. I'm happier.

They had AQ status instead of taking the 2 best SEC teams and the schedules often stayed unbalanced for long periods of time. The east probably hardest in the 2000s, then the west for the 2010s, etc.
The problem now is we have too many teams for anything to really be great. The overall format is better, but with so many teams you can easily get 2 teams that have played the opposite ends of the league in terms of strength.
Oh, and the SECCG is becoming the SEC punishment game for the 2nd year in a row as the best path is sitting at home and being the #5 seed. Top 4 would be great if you didn't have to play in the championship game to get there.
But take a look at Oregon, skips the conference championships gets JMU instead as a cupcake game. Ole Miss gets Tulane - a team they scheduled as one of their cupcakes for this season.
But divisions won't fix that obviously. Probably just gonna end up going win% as the best way if they don't fix the playoffs.

I remember when the fans of SECw teams told UGA fans they’d never win another SECC once the divisions went away. Oddly enough UGA has won both since divisions went away.

With Oklahoma and Texas joining, who would’ve been sent to the east? Auburn? It was already weird with Missouri being an east team.

I don't want to agree with you, but I do. This "super conference" bullshite sucks.

I try to live my life that way. Most of the time I’m successful and thus, I’m happy. Sometimes I fail. I’ll never be perfect at it, and I’m OK with that.

Send Oklahoma east, playing Texas as cross divisional rival. All important games preserved.

We should all be able to agree on that.
I'm so fed up with Skankey.

The East had it too easy many recent years though.

Both Alabama schools would go East, Missouri would go west

Fair point, except for the “cupcake.” Tulane isn’t a powerhouse and wouldn’t be in playoffs except as an AQ. But all this talk about playing out of conference “cupcakes” ignores the fact that teams can be a lot better (or worse) than when they were scheduled.
Tulane this year played 8 bowl-bound teams to an 11-2 record, including wins over an 11-win North Texas in the CCG, a win over the ACC champion (even tho it was Duke), and a 3 touchdown win over a 6-6 big 10 team.
Except for OSU, Notre Dame, Miami, and Michigan, Tulane was the strongest out of conference opponent for any SEC school this year. With a head coach just hired in the SEC. Beatable, yes. Cupcake, no.

Yes divisions produce more clear participansts for the CCG. Always have head to head within division and you have a majority of common opponents, so its a fair race. With current set up you are comparing records of teams without head to head and not always a lot of common opponents, pretty random, If CCG was priority we would have divisions clearly it is not which is why it should be cancelled
