Notre Dame athletic director Pete Bevacqua unloaded on the ACC in the wake of Sunday's College Football Playoff snub, saying the conference that houses almost every Fighting Irish sports team has caused "permanent damage" to the relationship.
Bevacqua told "The Dan Patrick Show" on Monday that he has great respect for Miami, Alabama and all the teams that stated their cases for CFP inclusion and ultimately were included in the field of 12. However, Bevacqua is upset with how the ACC pushed for Miami over Notre Dame leading up to the selections.
"We were mystified by the actions of the conference to attack their biggest, really, partner in football and a member of their conference in 24 of our other sports," Bevacqua told Patrick. "... They have certainly done permanent damage to the relationship between the conference and Notre Dame."
Last month, the ACC's official account on X posted a side-by-side comparison of Miami and Notre Dame, accompanied by the text, "No hypotheticals, just facts." Miami beat Notre Dame 27-24 in the season opener, a game the Hurricanes never trailed, and finished with an identical 10-2 record.

Join the football conference and the ACC head office wouldn't do that.
Seriously, what is the beef here? Was the ACC not supposed to lobby for Miami because ND plays in the ACC in women's lacrosse?

the ACC backed a conference member. ND isn't that.

Why wouldn't the conference push for its conference members to make the playoff?
This dude is making ND look foolish.

Was the ACC specifically targeting ND, or just advocating for Miami?

ND got their just desserts. They turned their noses to the Big ten for twenty years. Now they big mad at the ACC. frick em

Maybe they should quit padding their schedule with 6 mostly terrible ACC teams a year

Notre Dame always thinks that they’re “different, special.”
There was a post here yesterday that harm had been done to their “national brand.”
I’m glad that they were given no preferential treatment yesterday by the committee. And this alleged MOU that they only have to be ranked in the top 12 to get into the CFP…is complete and utter bullshite.

ND is not a full member of the ACC, and it would be a dereliction of the ACC to not promote a full fledged member of the ACC.

Nobody hates Bama more than me and even I can’t believe how hard ND is melting over this holy shite

Exactly. But here's the part that apparently really got under the leprechaun's skin ...

That's the fact of the matter and ND has a problem with that.
They're pitching a fit like a petulant, spoiled, brat.
It's a really bad look for Notre Dame.

Join a conference, dummy! BTW, you should pick the Big 10 or SEC over the ACC to have a more legit argument.

The ACC gets no money if Notre Dame gets in over Miami.
This guy is just acting like a victim because he knows he is going to have to join the Big 10 and wants to have an excuse so it looks like their hand was forced.

I've got family and close friends up in Michigan ... been attending ballgames up there for decades.
And I know a couple two or three OSU, Michigan State and Indiana fans and I can tell you ... NONE of them want Notre Dame in the B1G after ND snubbed them twice. Indiana especially, but I've been surprised by how adamant Big Blue and suckeye fans are about saying "pound sand" to Notre Dame fans.
One of my best friends used to work in the ND athletic department and he acknowledges the fact that sentiment has turned against ND when it comes to an invite by the B1G.
And the SEC will not touch them with a ten foot barge pole.

Notre Dame tears are the best tears, and A&M essentially ending their season after the first few weeks is the cherry on top.

The committee was fully prepared to give Notre Dame the spot over Miami despite the head to head. Then Duke won the ACC and they decided to include a token ACC team. Conference pressure beat ND bias. Politics versus politics. In case there was any doubt, it was never about football. That’s what is fully exposed here, even if you think they ended up with the right decision that’s just a coincidence, it was never for the right reasons. And everyone should be mad about that

I’m already as tired of hearing Notre Dame’s bullshite as I was the many sagas of Lane Kiffin.
Shut up, Irish. You’ve been coddled forever. This year, nobody cares.

Please tell me this guy isn’t that big of an idiot. Of course the conference will back its member over a non member.
Don’t like it, join in football and shut up.
What a dumass.

The ACC needs to give those assholes an ultimatum. Either join in football or gtfo. They bring nothing to the conference and it's the height of arrogance to expect the conference to not push for an actual full member to get a playoff spot over them. Especially when that team beat the crap out of Notre Dame on the field.
If the ACC kicks them out and refuses to schedule them it will kill them. With everyone going to 9 game conference schedules no one will want to bother playing Notre Dame. Why give them an opportunity for a power 4 win now that we know they are getting preferential treatment by the committee starting next year? We should all refuse to schedule them.
