You think they will pay him 2.5 million?

I hope he stays. He ran one of the nation's best defenses this year without any help from the offense. When he was strictly DC, he put together highly detailed defensive game plans. When he became interim HC, his defense weaken due to other demands competing for his attention.

Cohen came from State…I trust that he’s at least capable of cockblocking them from stealing him and can make DJ happy here on the plains

Let him go. Throw the bank at Texas Tech’s DC, S. Wood.

If he swallows his pride and stays and his defense stays strong, he will be beloved by Auburn forever.

Or until he leaves for another team

I hope he stays. Our defense has been great with Durkin as DC.

I was all in on keeping Durkin in whatever capacity initially, but now I don’t know.

Too many fresh memories of our defense folding in the 4th quarter. And too many stale memories of Hugh Nall poisoning the well after we kept him.

Would 100% be behind this if Durkin left. Coincedentally was the DC at Troy for one of Sumerall's really good seasons there and was at Tulane for Fritz's last season and his first at Houston.

Durkin is probably having reservations regarding being the DC in this type offense. His DC/defensive numbers are not going to look as good.

I remember when Gus ran a true uptempo we saw the effects on the defense. I believe Ellis Johnson was DC. We use to complain about the defense having to stay on the field too much.

Yeah looking at the video Jang posted on the Golesh is HC threat (bottom of pg 18) I think Durkin just might have reservations about even practice defending that kind of offense knowing it'll not give him the best opportunity to coach his guys against that tempo style.

Ellis sucked though. It didn’t seem to bother Steele.

Would Stoops consider a DC job if Durkin leaves? Would we want him? Who would be some other good candidates?

If anyone says T-Will, I'm going to come find you.

Durkin is not leaving. Not sure of the details, but this is good news for the staff, players, recruits and Auburn.

Great news and based on your recent track record, I’m taking it as done deal.

Going to State would be a step back and a pay cut. I could see him taking a little less money to be HC at a G5 but that's it. We've offered him 3 million a year which would make him the highest paid coordinator in the country. Not many places with openings can match that.
