re: Toughest Auburn season

Well the roster in 2012 was talented enough to play for a natty one year later.
Who is your candidate who has no inexplicable or embarrassing losses on his resume?

Urban Meyer lost to Mike Shula 31-3.

Jeff Brohm calls the plays for Louisville

I don’t care if the head coach is calling the plays if he’s competent at it, and can juggle that with all other aspects of managing a program. Brohm has a proven track record of being able to do that at a Power 4 level.

The problem is when the coach who is calling the plays refuses to evolve, and is too stubborn to admit when the game has passed him by, or when he isn’t even present for all the meetings during the week and is calling plays on Saturday, or thinks that the plays he’s calling on Saturdays are the key to success over player development, fundamentals, discipline, and attention to detail.

I do get why we are gun-shy about going after someone else who calls his own plays. But I don’t think that’s an automatic show-stopper, and would hate to see us not hire who might be the best choice for that sole reason.
…Sumrall being more realistic doesn’t count.

Don’t get me wrong, I’ll be over the moon if we get Sumrall. Just not getting why Brohm isn’t getting much buzz, and if I’m in charge he would definitely have to tell me no before I hired Sumrall. Convince me why I’m wrong.

I’m certainly not panicking yet, but we seem to be doing the same thing we like to do in football where we crown mid-to-downright-bad teams when they beat us or play us closer than expected.

that team was no pushover

17-16 last year, and didn’t play any of their decent opponents close.
…and it blowing up so badly, give Cohen the political capital to make this hire on his own? Because I trust him a whole hell of a lot more to conduct a professional search and make the right hire than I do Rane & Co.

In contrast, I didn't feel like Durkin won the PC at all. Seemed fidgety and unsure of himself.

I personally thought he nailed it, and that he and Cohen were a breath of fresh air. He’s certainly an improvement over HF’s head-scratching PC’s…that’s a low bar, I know.

It’s clear to me after the PC that Durkin and Cohen understand the assignment, and totally get the state of the fanbase, and are totally committed to give their all to serve in the best interest of Auburn.
Or do we want someone who will change our culture?

I could really see that happening if the news that should have already come out, actually does come out today.

I’’d be tempted to drive down from Pelham with a trunk full of Charmin myself. Yeah, I’d use the expensive stuff for this special occasion.

This kind of shite is how we ended up with Harsin as our coach.
Can we fire that yellabelly sack of shite Jimmy Rane while we’re at it? Because we all know Freeze was hired to kiss Rane’s fat arse.
… it’s official that we don’t give a shite about football anymore.
This has vibes of they investigated him personally and found something not on the up-and-up. Hard to believe they’d take such extreme action over what happened on the field.
Look on the bright side. At least we ended up with positive 4th quarter yardage.

As long as yellabelly is alive and throwing his weight around, it won’t matter.

Maybe he’ll make another run at Houston Nutt.
