Ole Miss fans should be mad at their AD

He knew teams were interested in Kiffin for months and he did nothing to secure his coach and sat on his hands.
They will figure it out.
They will figure it out.

I’ll bite.
What could he have done?
What could he have done?

He should’ve been able to get paid to go other places

Instead of focusing on ultimatums and overplaying a weak hand, he could have done his job and had interviews.
OM’s problem isn’t Kiffin or being a stepping stone job; it’s weak and incompetent leadership.

Let LK coach. This puts LSU in the position of choosing between LK starting after portal or forcing his hand. If LSU tried to force LK’s hand, he likely stays at OM. LSU verbally ok’d him coaching through the playoffs, but didn’t have to actually be out to the test bc the dumb arse OM AD issued the ultimatum.

We don’t know all the details yet. It should’ve been all behind closed doors with no leaks where they could sort all this out before the end of the season. The problem with the portal calendar hurts this more than people realize. Especially since OM has built their recruiting around it (not saying that’s a bad thing).

Only you guys think this was a plausible conclusion to this situation

Ole Miss's AD placated and appeased Kiffin every single year and this year was no different.

Sounded like Kiffin had a contract extension and raise on his desk that he just wouldn’t sign…. Right?

Which should have been a massive red flag and call to action for OM’s AD to get moving on securing a replacement.
He didn’t. He misplayed. And OM is up a creek today because of it.

1. Don't issue an ultimatum. Make LSU be the bad guy in that situation.
2. Line up a decent back up option. It was supposed to be Sumrall however it appears that he wasn't locked down.

Sure remind me was he being paid to say that or was I dreaming

They already have their next head coach. It’s Pete Golding.

Are you retarded? They can't hire someone while the current head coach is still employed at the university. Kiffin was the one who dragged this thing out by waiting until the very last minute to decide whether he's staying or going. Now Ole Miss is COMPLETELY behind the eight ball because of it.

They only offered him the extension after Cignetti had already re-signed with Indiana
Kiffin has been the big name on the market for years. They should have tried to get this re-done pre-season instead of waiting for the inevitable when they reduce their own leverage. Everyone knew at a minimum Napier was getting fired this year

If the leadership at LSU hadn’t been such a disaster, and you decided that hiring Kiffin was the play, then the way you do that is not to fire Kelly mid season, but rather, keep him twisting in the wind until Kiffin’s playoff run was done, then you fire Kelly one day, and hire Kiffin the next. Your signing class might suffer slightly (not much, the way LSU keeps local talent at home), but you’d have your target coach, without depriving him the opportunity to chase a championship. This is exactly what Texas did in pursuing Jim Schlossnagle. It’s still a bit of a dick move, but it doesn’t put you in the position of asking the impossible.

Any AD worth his salt has his ducks in a row to pivot quickly should his guy leave. OM’s AD didn’t do that, instead he wasted time and let this all drag out which gave FL, AU, and Arky plenty of time to hire coaches OM wanted.

Ole Miss could have a new coach hired today, but the new guy would not be in a position to coach a playoff run. It’s ludicrous that you think that possible.

You don’t think they should have gotten that hint weeks ago and be prepared for this?
