Does Duke get in over the other G5 champ or does the ACC get left out?

Think these would be locks for the playoff:

Ohio State
Indiana
Oregon
Texas A&M
Georgia
Alabama
Ole Miss
BYU
North Texas/Tulane
James Madison (should be a higher rated conference champion than Duke)

Which means 2 spots for:

Oklahoma
Notre Dame
Miami
Texas Tech
Vanderbilt

If Alabama gets left out after playing in the conference title, the SEC will scrap that game. ESPN doesn’t want that.

Edited to include Vandy but I’m not sure they have a pathway to the playoff unfortunately.

Exactly. If Notre Dame, Miami, Vandy, Oklahoma or any of them get a benefit from sitting at home at 10-2 and Bama gets sent packing for having to play an extra game or Georgia gets moved out of a bye because of a loss in the Championship game, it’ll be gone the day after that happens.

TTU will still get in as their 2nd loss would in the CCG. They would be ahead of those other 2 loss teams with 1 more win.

So, 1 spot for OU, ND, MIAMI, and Vandy. With the way the committee has protected ND my guess would be them. Now if Duke wins but does not get ranked at 8-5 OU would be the next team up is my guess.

Duke isn’t jumping the Tulane team that whipped that arse in Durham

No ACC auto bid

In that scenario I feel like OU would get the final spot if they are still ranked ahead of ND this week. If they move ND up, then I guess ND gets in.

If I had a vote, I’d probably say Miami should be in, but I don’t have a vote.

Don't see how they could justify putting ND in ahead of Miami with same records and Miami with the H2H

They’re talking about Duke being left out and no ACC rep.

I see this as more likely, but not actually LIKELY... I think UGA would have to lose big (which they won't) to actually lose the bye seed.

The Indiana/Ohio State loser should though, considering this will only be the 3rd ranked opponent for either.

Duke is out to 2 G5 teams, UGA drops a spot or two, Bama is #4, and either Tech or ND get bounced.

They played at Miami back in week 1

Miami has losses to two mediocre teams SMU and Louisville

Notre Dame's only losses were close games against Miami and Texas A&M

Last I checked losing to multiple unranked teams doesn't enhance a team's resume

It’s disgusting how they protect ND. They should be penalized for not joining a conference. There is no way the should be ranked ahead of Bama with the wins that Bama has.

ACC will be out. A 2nd spot for the G5 will go to either James Madison or UNLV if they win the Mountain West.
