At a SEC program? Seems like he’s going to run into a lot of issues with NIL at OSU

...and another person who has no actual knowledge of the situation. OKST will be just fine with NIL.

oSu has no NIL issue. They have donors that were tired of Mike Gundy.

Seems like they spend significantly less in NIL than most other power 5 schools.

T. Boone died before NIL.

The proximity to Texas is what helped this guy decide. He's a good coach with deep Texas ties. Hopefully the pokes found them a good one.

Gundy didn’t adjust … he hated paying players . Old school ways bit him .

Absolutely. But Kiffin is holding all the schools coaching search hostage as he’s the first domino.

one of two things happened

1) he found, via his agent, that there was not a lot of serious interest for him at these SEC openings. Maybe because while he's been great, maybe these big schools wanted to see more consistency first.

Or

2) he likes the setup at OK State. And he can make some noise in the big 12.

In any case, it's a great hire for little bro.

Gundy shunned NIL. It's part of the reason he was fired, a move pushed by a group of donors.

Grew up in a town about ten miles outside of Lubbock...

Went to Texas Tech.

Stillwater probably feels pretty comfortable to a guy like that.

The problem for OSU, is they lost their reason to exist when OU went to the SEC.

Okie Light is stable and has shown patience. And if he succeeds there he's got both a path to the playoff and a leg up to a blue blood job.

I'm not sure if this is a direct answer to your question, but I believe Baylor will be kicking themselves for this Mack Rhodes fiasco. I believe Dave Aranda gets another year, SOLEY on the fact Baylor doesn't have an AD now, and Morris was a dream candidate.

Yet another Texas Tech former player to become a head coach or coordinator joining the likes of Kliff Kingsbury, Lincoln Riley, Graham Harrell , Dana Holgorsen, Sonny Cumbie, and many others.

His staff wanted Baylor. Baylor is keeping their coach

He could have had the Arkansas job and chose the Oklahoma State job because it’s better

Morris has strong ties to Texas and Oklahoma

Oklahoma State won’t have problems with NIL. They won’t be as solid as Texas Tech or BYU, but they’ll have as many resources as anyone else in that conference. Plus they already have nice facilities and it won’t require a dramatic alumni investment

Mestemaker, RB and WR will likely follow

He didn't have an offer from Arkansas. That probably helped him make his decision.
