I think that might improve our chances to make the playoff to miss that game.

I personally have never cared about an SEC title, and I think everyone is slowly headed in that direction.

If the Playoff Committee follows their own rules then the SECCG will have zero affect on whether Bama is in our out with a win or loss.
See SMU from last year.

Alabama's win streak in Atlanta and the SEC Championship Game is one of the last streaks that KD hasn't broken yet.

Posted this in another thread already:

FWIW in CBS’s projections they had Alabama losing the SEC championship with a 10-3 record and still having a home game as the 6-seed.

I would be perfectly ok with a home playoff game at this point

Allegedly ALL of the below have to occur

- Florida beats Tennessee
- Kentucky beats Vanderbilt
- Arkansas beats Missouri
- Ole Miss beats Miss State
- Texas A&M beats Texas

Cheer according to your wishes

I don’t want to test that, especially with that FSU loss on our resume.

FSU has a chance to finish 7-5. That loss isn’t gonna look as bad as we thought

Yeah, but one thing I’ve learned about the committee over the years is that you can’t really count on anything they say. They are totally capable of deciding that this is the year that they will punish conference championship game losers.

The only shot Alabama has to get in the playoffs is to win the SEC. With a win they are automatically in. Lose make your plans for an Orlando or Tampa bowl game. I live in Florida and did attend last year, but probably will not this year because of the frustration of watching Alabama play. The frustration last year was because of Milroe and this year they do not play physical football. They were not physical last year either but it would not have mattered. This year it would make a big difference.

The precedent set by keeping out an SECCG participant would be awful for the CFP product as a whole. They won’t do that.

It would also end conference championship games all together.

I agree.

It does contradict 2017 when we got in over Auburn, who lost in the SECCG, but I feel yhis is different now.
With the added games to play, up to 4, for the playoff teams, it really is putting extra strain on justifications for the extra conference championship games.

I couldn't see the committee choosing Georgia over us, or Ole Miss over Georgia because of the head to heads.

But, who knows?

As much as I want to agree, I can’t. They simply will put us in after beating Auburn we basically have a ton of opportunities to right the ship. SEC game, and Playoff to earn the right. We have the players but can we do it.

To go as a 3 loss SECCG loser, Bama would have to be ranked #10 despite the loss. 12 is locked in to a minor conference team and 11 will be the ACC champion. Right now, 1-8 are all undefeated or one loss teams, so I don't see the committee putting Bama ahead of them with two losses. Oklahoma will move ahead of Alabama at 9 since they have the same record and won head to head. That puts Bama at 10 this week, I think.

Given that, there's no margin for error unless they get some help. Anyone saying anything about precedent has not been paying attention to how the committee has operated for years.

Regardless of outcome, the SECCG is now a liability. Even the team that wins has had to play another difficult game while teams lower in the conference standings get a bye.

Maybe:

Texas is out, ND is a 2 loss team at 9. A few teams still play each other.

We will see. I would treat this as we have to win every game and it doesn’t matter.

Good post. The committee could also hang that FSU loss around our neck if they need justification. It’s not a given we go with three losses.

If the committee ever leaves the loser of the SEC or B1G championship game out those two leagues will form their own playoff. It's not happening.

Honestly it’s entirely possible OU drops one of Missouri / LSU
