This team has so much more talent than our record shows. We literally a few calls away from being a top 15 team but we are prolly gonna lose 7 games this year instead. And I hadn't lost hope because of how we lose. It had made this year one of the hardest season Ive had to deal with and we've had some rough ones.
I know it my fault for continuing to have unearned optimism in this team each week. Im gonna get flamed for this but we really are so close to being a top team. I watch each week hoping were gonna turn the corner but instead Auburn gives a glimpse of what they could be to just make sure the loss is as painful as possible. If we were getting blown out by 30 I could supress my expectations and just watch it objectively without feeling let down. It happens every weekend though so I should be expecting it.

Which season was the hardest for you all to watch? No matter if we just underperformed or we kept losing games we coulda won or injury.

Every losing season is rough for me lately. Partially bc my wife and inlaws are a Bammers mixed with Jawja in there.

It’s a tough pill to swallow seeing Saban reload every year with different QB, Coordinating, Water boys, etc and not miss a beat; Kirby the same…

.. and here we are blaming it on “new system”, “different QB”, “OL”, etal.

Then when we do have success we can’t on the offense..

It would be a lot easier to enjoy college football as an escape if the Juggernaut's weren’t our TWO arch rivals.

This one is up there for the reasons you listed. I know we joke but we have been so close every game - we’ve lost by 7, 6, 10, 7, 7, 7 . That makes me want to bang my head against the wall. Crazy.

I was in school for 2012 and that really was as bad as you can imagine. It was horrendous. It was one of the only seasons I actually stopped watching and I was in school.

At least watching Florida makes me feel a fraction better. Not really

2012 was pretty bad just because the team was so undisciplined and couldn’t play anyone in the SEC close. We were getting just blown out by 30, 40 points every game. Allowing Texas A&M to put 63 on us in JHS was diabolical. Almost as bad as losing 31-10 to NMSU at home.

This season could have been very different if we simply eliminated so many stupid penalties.

This might be the worst for me. 2008 sucked. 2012 was awful but the team quit so my expectations became to get blown out every game. This team was supposed to finally be the light at the end of a long, dark tunnel and ended up being a semi truck.

The Oklahoma game was basically stolen. It may be in the L column but we know what happened.

This team is the most frustrating since 2003. The two saving graces are I care about a tenth of what I used to and we were bad enough to get rid of Hugh Freeze.

The fact is we are just a loser program with a loser mentality right now. We expect to lose and find new ways to do so every week. Whoever we hire I hope it's someone who has spent the most time at a winning program, whether they were the ones running it or not, to totally change the culture and mentality of our football program.

I don't think this person is even out there but our football program is basically what our basketball program used to be and needs someone like Bruce to come in and save it. Arguably the worst program in the SEC post COVID. That's unforgiveable with the resources and support we have. Worse than Vandy, worse than State, worse than Kentucky, worse than South Carolina, worse than Arkansas.

Wasn’t he forced out for fricking a cheerleader?

I think he was fricking Bobby Lowder’s daughter which was probably worse than banging a cheerleader

Yeah 2012 might never be topped for the sheer beat downs that occurred. AU lost to UGA and Bama by a combined score of 84-0, with both of them playing backups in the second half. Manziel put up like 63 points in JHS, which was and still is a record.

But this is worse in some ways because the team is so talented. This roster is good enough for playoffs but the on-field product still sucks.

We sat through that TAMU beat down...

Probably the worst AU display I have ever seen....

But this season has been the most frustrating...

As bad as this year has been, Chizik's last year was as depressing as it gets. That team quit.

2012 was the absolute nadir in my lifetime. A team that gave up in October.

we’ll always owe him and Gustav a debt of gratitude for 2010

but all this “promote Durkin and hire a great OC” talk is strangely reminiscent of the Chiz era

which ended in misery, failure, prison and death
