Can't in all my years remember a coach being this sought after by so many teams.
It's as if Kiffin is the savior.
Kiffin or bust.

Everyone tried to get Chris Petersen when he was at Boise.

He’s a good coach but it is out of hand for sure. few other established coaches seem “gettable” this cycle. This is Lane’s moment as he will likely never be hotter than he is right now.

Kiffin is definitely the best option for any team looking for a coach.

This is probably the best historical example, everyone knew he was too big for the program it was more a question of when and where

It's interesting, because I don't think many of us think of Kiffin as a living legend or anything. But it's a confluence of circumstances -

- He's been a lot of places and is pretty proven at this point, and has a really strong football pedigree from a lot of angles.

- He's at a school where the perception is he can be poached

- The school he's at where he's deemed "gettable" has played a few years of competitive ball with him at the highest level in CFB.

Usually, a guy of his caliber is either already going to be in a destination job or there are going to be questions about whether he can translate his body of work to a higher level of CFB.

So I'd argue the sweepstakes element is as much about his current spot as it is about his resume as a coach. But, of course, he may ultimately decide OM is a destination job.

Oh, yes, amazing how he's fallen off. For in case you're not aware, Tom Herman got fired before he even finished 2 seasons at FAU.

Says the media pundits.

Do you recall when the media told us that Billy Napier was the second coming?

The current coaching positions at Auburn, LSU, Florida and Arkansas are more likely to produce more overall failure than success. In other words, with a 9 game conference schedule, only one of these programs will end up with a coach that will hit the 10 win mark anytime soon. The others will want to fire their coaches for going 7-5 or even 8-4.

People are going to have to temper their expectations with next year's schedule going to 9 SEC + 1 P4.

Every season for 15 years someone was going to hire Nick Saban away from Alabama.

Even now the corndogs are claiming Saban will be LSU’s next head coach.

Not necessarily. You would have to make him the highest paid coach in the country to have a chance of getting him out of Oxford. And despite his recent success, I'm not sure his overall body of work justifies that.

Which AD has come out and said that Lane is the number one target?

All I have seen is internet rumors and prognosticators who fish for clicks.

How do we know for sure every AD has Lane as number 1 or even wants him?

He is worth 12 million a year for instant offense and 10 win seasons alone.

imo

It's called supply and demand. The supply isn't that great. Just for starters, Saban, Urban Meyer, and Chip Kelly are no longer in college football or coaching at all. There's three big names right there that for years were big fish in the CFB ranks. They're gone and now you've got who, Kirby, Lane, Sark, Ryan Day, Dabo and Dan Lanning? Of those, Kirby, Dabo and Day have won NC's and the other two have not.

There's not that many true big names anymore.
