Has LSU been passed on by Ole Miss?

LSU was once a fine football program with reasonable aspirations of frequently being in SEC Championship and sometimes NC contention.
But that no longer seems to be the case.
Is Ole Miss now a better football program than LSU? Is it a more desirable destination for recruits?
Not sure, but I would say it's at least pretty damn close to happening.
Lane is not even considering any offer by LSU now. He also doesn't appear to be wanting to go elsewhere either.
Has Joey F. made Ole Miss into a better football program as a whole?

Hyperbole much?
Get to Alanta, win in Atlanta, win a national title ( all of which LSU has done multiple times this century) and then we'll talk.
Currently Ole Miss is trying to make their first ever SEC Championship......pump the brakes.

Not saying you guys can't get it back. Might take another 2-3 hires but right now, if I'm a recruit choosing between LSU and Ole Miss, I'm probably heading to Ole Miss.

Hey I don't want no trouble but I'm just saying to the average sec fan, which one seems like the better destination for coaches and recruits right now and for the near future.

There are cycles. Some cycles last longer than others. We all have to deal with them.

Agreed but I figure they have a chance at getting the edge back.

Ask yourself and wait for an answer my bro.

Every SEC program is now the right coach away from being in national championship contention. Or the wrong hire away from having an 8-4 ceiling. Exhibit 1: Ole Miss and its meteoric rise. Exhibit 2: Texas A&M prior to Elko.
With conference consolidation, NIL, and the Portal, there is less parity across college football programs nationally, but there is far more parity within the SEC.

Temporarily, yes. Long term, No.
Do Bama fans remember the stretch between 2000 & 2007?
LSU, Florida, and Georgia surpassed mighty Alabama. Everyone was saying Bama was dead, Just like you’re saying LSU is dead now.
Just get the fight coach in place and everything changes back quickly.

Yup. This is the reality. But everyone on here wants to pretend college football is still in 90s-00’s.

Lane hasn't made Ole Miss into an equivalent or "better" option. The NIL/transfer portal has. Lane's a very good coach, but if he didn't have access to the portal and NIL he would have never gotten Ole Miss to where they are now. Cignetti is the best example in today's current football with Indiana. Cignetti's a good coach, but no way he's turning Indiana into what they are now without the transfer portal and NIL.

Ole Miss has...
$30m less revenue
In-state rival competition for recruits
Athletic foundation with half the revenue ($86m vs. $42m)
No SEC championships (no SEC-W before the merger)
Not even close in recruting
In the past five years, LSU has a national title, an SEC title, and two western division championships. In that same time frame, the best Ole Miss can claim is second in the SEC-W.
