In light of LSU’s staff move (or moves) does anything change?

I would imagine our game plan prior to this was going to be pretty much the same generalized plan we’ve had since the Georgia game: Control the clock on offense while leaning 65:35 on short to medium range passing game as opposed to running game.

Defense would play mainly 4-2-5 with creative nickel and bandit looks, opportunistic on turnovers and bendable, mostly unbreakable. The most points scored on a pretty veteran and talented defense at this point remains the 31 in the opener, which in retrospect was an absolute trap and a growth opportunity.

If you were in charge, what changes would you be on the lookout for?

Edit: I can’t mention SOG without mentioning Tide06, who has done a great job with providing statistical analysis for Alabama on this board every week and has provided a pretty reliable model of his own. Here’s his Bama vs SC thread. (A few turnovers aside, the point projection was pretty close.)

Big question will be does Nuss start or does he opt out for the draft. Van Buren is the back up and a true dual threat quarterback. Very different from Nuss obviously.

New coach going to make Nuss into the guy they thought he was gonna be?

I dont think so.

I would be more worried about the backup QB coming in and giving them a spark. But we should be able to give a first time starting QB a hard time on the road. I will still need a drink.

Not necessarily. As the previous poster stated, we may be in for a QB shakeup, especially given that the interim pays virtually no penalty for doing so. And their backup is mobile and would likely have a simplified playbook. Which is why if I were Bama I would scout this game as if I were playing against Jayden Daniels with a skilled spy up close on ever play.

They aren't going to change their offense but they will do some new things. They have a new interim head coach and a bye week. This is a much tougher game than if we'd gotten Brian Kelly on the sideline throwing hissy fits at his coaches and players. They're going to have a bit of a motivational shot to the arm because that psycho isn't on the sidelines.

Pretty much what I think. Bama’s best gameplan is to keep the ball for a while every time, but more importantly score every time. Don’t give them an ounce of oxygen on offense. Their defense is what it is.

That's the problem with LSU fans.

They put individuals onto pedestals that don't deserve it.

Nuss is fricking terrible. Those morons had him going #1 overall in the NFL draft and most of them wanted the Saints to pick him. He fricking sucks.

Harold Perkins, too. They touted him as the best defensive player in the country. Texas A&M whipped him like a rented mule.

They're certified retards.

I remember watching Van Buren start for MSU last year and was impressed with his arm. Dude can really flick the ball with a quick release.

I don’t think they can retool the team in 2 weeks. I also don’t think they can come up with tons of new wrinkles for us in two weeks. Plus going wild hair crazy with reckless abandon is a good way to have it blow up in your face.

I look for them to try to simplify things and work on execution.

We just need to do our thing and execute better than they do.

This is another dangerous game...Bama unfortunately only has one more gimme. Sucks to not be Ohio State playing Maryland and Northwestern every week.

Some of these teams that have fired their coach have had good performances from their team afterward. LSU is gonna come out throwing haymakers

The best thing for us is that Nuss is a statue back there and LSU's offensive line is not good. They'll come out emotionally fired up I'm sure but that is only going to last for so long. If we get out on them, they'll probably fold.

Deboer's best games have come following a bye week, so I think we will be crisp and play the best we have in a while.

We need to do what we do and not worry about what they MIGHT do or how pumped up they MIGHT be. If we do our thing and execute the way we are supposed to execute, we will win because we are better than them.

Perkins has quit on the team, so that is one less thing to worry about.

Also when you pay the big bucks in the portal, those are the first players to quit on you when the going gets tough.

Been trying to call him back to the board all season.

All Ill say going into the bye is that we should be really proud of the team.

Based on the models this team is overachieving. Whatever intangibles and tv announcer platitudes you want to use to describe it feel free, but the collective sum of the parts with this group seems to be more than the individual players so to speak.

So even as the models get more and more skeptical of our output, it just makes me appreciate the run they put together even more and that even post Saban we are continuing to compete at an elite level.

Without the OC and given the utter turmoil I dont know what you can do but run your previous gameplan, but if Nuss sits all bets are off. Our best hope is that the coaches and players are looking at where their next stop will be rather than focusing on beating Bama in a lost season. Ill be watching to see if Weeks is back as losing him really hurt their run defense the last couple weeks.

Itll be interesting to see what TV slot we get, my preference is always a night kick but the competition will be (3)A&M @ (19)MIZZ and AU @ (9) VANDY. Prior to the firing I would've bet good money on being the primetime game, but now I have no idea.

Would think that MVB would not want to burn his redshirt this year. He has already played 2 games for sure

Just depends on the LSU players mindset. Their season is over, their coach is fired, they are probably more interested in seeing where they are going to be playing next year and getting new NIL deals set up.

If they don't care about the game at all, it will be a complete blowout.
