If Ole Miss beats Georgia, should they be ranked #1?

No team ranked above Ole Miss would be able to claim to have beaten two top 10 teams this season.

They’ll just say Georgia hasn’t beaten anybody

Depending on how the game goes. It’ll be all entirely contextual imo.

You would need LSU to win and to not humiliate UGA, a bad loss and UGA drops far given how they got their win over the Vols and how tight the auburn game was. Indiana has technically beaten two top 10 teams but Illinois is now sitting at 26 with votes received
I still don’t think the pollsters are moving OSU off 1 unless they lose no matter what

I would agree with you for the AP but the Committee Poll is only like 2-3 weeks away. If Ole Miss is undefeated then I'd expect to see them at # 1 or 2.

only problem with this logic is considering Brian Kelly a top 10 team

I can see it but that's contingent on the pollsters actually being intelligent about ball which isn't close to a guarantee

Vandy is going to beat LSU, that will hurt our SOS.

It would be poetic justice for Ole Miss to make their first ever SECCG and lose to LSU in it.

You’re predicting an 8 win LSU team to make the SECCG?

Sure, why not? Does it matter? Not really. The only rankings that matter are after the NC game.

The College Football Playoff (CFP) uses a selection committee to choose 12 teams: the five highest-ranked conference champions get automatic bids, and the next seven highest-ranked teams receive at-large bids. The four highest-ranked teams overall receive a first-round bye. Selection is based on a variety of factors, including conference championships, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, and head-to-head comparison against common opponents.

If LSu losing to Vandy who would be Ole Miss 2nd top 10 win?

Indiana beat #9 and #3 at time of game
If you are not talking time of, then ole miss beating UGA would boot UGA at of the top 10 (which has to happen in your scenario), and if LSU loses to Vandy, they will be out of the top 10 as well, which would then mean you have no top 10 wins
so either way your statement does not work
