He's a hell of a D coordinator. Pretty mediocre head coach.

That's just how it be for some coaches. They, like Brent, are meant to walk the path of coordinator.

100%

Unfortunately, I think he's on really thin ice. That comment won't go over well in Norman. If they lose at South Carolina this weekend, I think they'll give him his walking papers and let the Ben Arbuckle take the interim tag. That dude turned 30 years old last month.

With players having this much power, the youth movement for coaches is real.

Both Beamer and Venables need to win this weekend, and need it badly.

If Beamer loses, he still survives the season, but he will have pretty much officially lost the fanbase.

I wonder what terrible bottom dweller he recently lost to that could be bringing about this threat to his career

Oklahoma owned the big 12 and it's not debatable. Sure, the last two years wasn't good but this is desperation from the misfit conference.

Unless there’s a succession plan already in place, Penn State & possibly OU could regret a hairpin trigger.

Nothing that he said was inaccurate. "Oklahoma" dominated the "old big 12 days" objectively, something many on this site have pointed out consistently. Many of those Oklahoma teams that dominated were under BV's tenure as DC during his first stint here. Most notably, going 7-2 in Big 12 play to 2-6 in SEC play the following year really just proves the point.

Yes, oU did dominate the big xii, but under Venables, they certainly did not.

That tweet from the big xii is off the top rope.

Brutal.

I wouldn’t call that trolling. Trolling in its purest form is intentionally making a bad-faith framing of an issue to create an intentionally provocative, or ‘hot’ take. This is more like an authoritative sit down and shut up bitch slap.

Venables is a complete moron. He is 27-18 as a head coach and will go down as the 2nd worst coach in the history of OU football.

Brent Venables went 10-8 in the Big 12
Lincoln Riley went 37-7 in the Big 12

Venables needs to ask Riley how to coach

Dude's a great DC but he's not dynamic enough like a Saban or Kirby who is not afraid to network to bring adequate OC's to the program.
