Is Penn State actually a destination job?

I've always felt like they're propped up in some way by the media.
They don't feel like a top tier school to me. They never get it done.
Plus, that stigma is at such a level that it will never fully wash off.

If you just came out of a coma that began in 1975 then yes

It’s not. At best it’s 4th or 5th best job in the big 10. I’d put SMU, Texas Tech, and TCU over the Penn State job for starters. Penn State is about on the same level as Washington as a program.

It was before the scandal for sure. I still think it is tho bc it’s probably the 3rd or 4th biggest job in one of the top 2 premier CFB power conferences

Maybe 6th with the way Indiana is spending money.

They aren't even the best job in the Big 10.

Since the 80s, they are unable to get the talent needed to win a title.

Yes, they are. It's a tradition rich school. The state of PA puts out very good talent as well.

Penn State is about on the same level as Florida as a program

The fact Penn State still is allowed to have a football program after what happened there is why the ncaa is a total joke. SMU got the death penalty for giving athletes money, Penn state got nothing for… well… you all know

Depends on what you’re looking for in a destination. They are patient, so a coach won’t be a couple years and out.
They are doing a $700 million renovation there now. The previous AD was awful and wanted to run a discount program, the new one is all in on the big money approach.
With multiple billionaires as boosters, they have money, are patient and have massive fan and alumni support. Culturally, it’s a great destination. If it’s not a top 10 destination, it’s definitely top 15.

Any school willing to spend whatever it takes to make the playoffs is a destination job. For example, right now Texas Tech is a destination job because they are willing to spend an insane amount of money to make the playoffs. If Penn State is willing to spend the money, they’ll get whatever coach they want.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I have to throw up because saying Tech is a destination job made me physically ill.
