Some posters don't get this new era of NIL ...

Team A has been a powerhouse for X years ...
Team B has no shot at winning vs. Team A ...
Eh, yeah before NIL that was probably the case.
But in the new NIL era, if Team B commits to buying a team (looking at you Texas Tech) ... well, history means jack shite in terms of what happened before.
There are universities that have significantly more NIL resources than other universities and in time, Team B, Team C, Team D, etc will consistently compete and beat Team A if their NIL is larger and correctly deployed ...
Same reason the World Series will feature the Dodgers nearly every single season until someone out spends them on the diamond ...
But, yes because Team A won the last 20 matches vs. Team B, Team C, Team D, etc ... nothing ever changes and that's just how it is ...
Some of the posters who continue to troll with this logic have 2 digit IQs, shouldn't be taken seriously and relegated back to finger banging their cousins in their backwoods trailers ...

Yes, Pre Covid and Post Covid are 2 different worlds of college football.

Every professional league has rules and regulations like salary caps, player drafts, collective bargaining agreements, etc, that assure some parity for the lo g term viability of the league.
College football will eventually, too, or it won’t survive long term and a minor nfl league will replace it.
That the college game makes so much money for so many people and businesses, though , is why it will eventually be regulated, same as every professional league.

Agreed.
All of this will happen or the product will go to shite.

At this point it’d just be awesome for college football to emulate European football with relegations/promotions to the power conferences that compete for their own top tier cfb national championship. Only way I see college football getting that excitement level back that it used to have where even your low tier teams are competing for something meaningful every year

This is actually an interesting idea ...
Cause watching FCS/Tier-3 FBS vs. FBS in the season is a waste of time and every team schedules these cupcakes ... which sucks.

College football now is minor league football. What are you talking about?

Dodgers are different
They deferring everything
Most teams can’t afford to do that
Tv revenues for Yankees dodgers in house dwarf even the Texas teams

OP don’t know shite about NIL, either. Pot meet kettle

I think NIL can be great. It’s the seemingly unlimited transfers that is ruining the game. That part needs to be reigned in some.

Anyone who follows recruiting saw this coming. Teams like Oregon, Miami, Texas tech and Texas A&M have been winning recruiting battles they never would have won before NIL. And we're still in the early stages of this whole thing, the real NIL players are going to be spending way more than anyone else can keep up with in a few years.
If you think your team is going to be a Have rather than a Have Not in this new landscape, you better hope you have more going for you other than "we've always been good so we'll keep being good". Historical success isnt going to help when the above teams are spending 100 million or more on their rosters.

The lower teams in the SEC and Big 10 should be a lot more competitive with that up to 20 million or so which they will be allowed to use on NIL from revenues starting next season I think.

There are narratives, and then there's reality.....
Only team B is recruiting kids "who don't care about history", because team B has no history, and that's why team B has to make absurd NIL offers nobody else will match, just to get the commitment of any bluechip recruit at all.
Team B fans hoot-n-holler about the end of the team As of the world, blissfully unaware that their new bluechip commit doesn't care about their team B either, only the sizeable bag team B threw out there out at him that he couldn't refuse.

Are you under the impression that the traditional powers have low NIL? All NIL has done is result in more teams competing and spreading the talent, but if you think it means the traditional powers won't still be the powers, you are a buffoon. They will always be because of the sheer size of the fan bases willing to pitch in. Something newcomers lack. Do not believe me? 2023 semifinals (Michigan, Alabama, Texas and Washington. 2024 semifinals (OSU, Texas, Penn State, Notre Dame).

Really, we had the 2nd highest NIL this year. What is to explain?
