First time to Hail State.

The Good

- Campus is beautiful. Walked the whole thing. Impressive baseball facility.

- Nicest fans I've ever interacted with. Talked before and during game. Salt of the earth folks.

- Football stadium had 2 jumbotron screens. Easy in and out. Felt roomy even sitting shoulder to shoulder.

- Very fine looking women (college and cougar). I'm happily married for 25+ years but my high school junior pointed out the vast array of really beautiful women.

- The proximity and vastness of the tailgate scene was impressive right outside the stadium. Like a mini-Grove (Ole Miss).

The Bad

- Traffic flow post game was a nightmare. We were staying in Meridian and cops were blocking all the southbound roads. Waze was confused and eventually we had to go 30 minutes north to go 1.5 hours south ... so we wound up spending 3 hours getting to hotel after refuel and what not.

- The downtown and/or college bar scene is non-existent (or we missed that part of Starkville). We walked past a couple of restaurants but there isn't a vibrant downtown like one is used to in Como, Knoxville, Athens, etc.

- The cowbell. At first it's cool but they ring em for every play. Gain 2 yards, cowbell. Incompletion, cowbell. Throw a pick, cowbell. Other team has ball ... nonstop even when over center and play is happening (not everyone but several just ring the damn thing the whole game) ...

Nothing really ugly about the experience and highly recommend making the trip at least once, if possible.

This was also a college visit for my son and he loved everything but the cowbell ...

Told my son before last night's game, driving in, if we lose tonight ... I'm not sure there are 6 wins on the schedule.

Sure, home field will be an advantage in COMO but every team we face going forward is athletically better and better coached than Hail State ... except maybe the Hogs ...

And the refs were some of the worst I've ever seen.

The TV didn't do it justice. Spotting balls incorrectly over and over. Random timeouts for nothing.

Only one team can make it a 3 game win streak in the history of series tomorrow ...
