Why is Lane Kiffin's buyout only $4 million if he were to leave for a another school?

Not really saying he's going to Florida, but that's a freaking bargain for any school that does snatch him up.

Some school would probably double that just to uproot his family to bring with him.

I believe it drops to only $3 million after this season, right? Ole Miss is insane for not renewing that contract if they were truly set on keeping him.

We renew his contract every year and he's one of the top 10 highest paid coaches in the country...

He seems pretty happy in Oxford. Not sure it would be worth the jump to Gainesville. He will probably hold out for Texas or Bama.

$4 is pretty standard. It's what Brian Kelly would owe LSU if he leaves for example.

Florida would be moronic to not throw $15M at Lane - with the way Sunbelt has recruited Lane would make UF a contender year 1

And he's never even sniffed a conference championship.

I wouldn't brag on paying him top10 money...

No offense on the program... but it's ridiculous to pay top10 money for not top10 results.

I think Lane learned his lesson on chasing money. He has it good at Ole Miss. That said, I think he's chasing a top job and Florida isn't that right now.

He's given us a consistent level of success we haven't seen in decades. It's well worth it to us

It's gonna take a lot for someone to get him to leave Oxford
As long as Ole Miss continues to fund the transfer portal he will be fine

He is getting paid $9 million currently, with Kirby being the highest at $13million.

Lane has found a zen lifestyle in Oxford, with one kid at Ole Miss and the other throwing TDs for Oxford HS.

While Florida is a better state, than Mississippi. Oxford is far better than Gainesville.

Oxfart is a Dumpster, no one would agree to a prohibitive buyout to coach there

He already has a few houses saved in Gainesville on Zillow.

I generally like to laugh at ole miss's misery and delusion... but truth is they are a program in better shape than florida right now. weird times... but here we are.

I 100% think he turns down the gators

Please keep preaching that. We are busting at the seams and have just about run out of room for everyone.

He has his kids in Oxford, his mom (RIP Monte) living in Oxford, and his brother and his family living in Oxford. Dude has made Oxford his home. Do I think he'd leave Ole Miss for another school? Yeah, but it wouldn't be for a school like Florida. I think he'd leave in a heartbeat for Alabama.

Sunbelt has brought in top 12 classes. Not exactly setting the world on fire. Lane would have access to more talent at Florida but he would also have greater expectations (something he didn't do well with when Ole Miss was widely considered a playoff team going into last season). His 'big game' playcalling can be baffling at times. It's an upgrade over billy for sure but not a home run.

Because Ole Miss is not a destination school.
