Let me start by qualifying my post. Due to my love of a Great Uncle who was a great man and a die-hard Tide fan, I have always pulled for Bama. The only time I don't is when they are playing my Dawgs. It truly saddens me how KD has dismembered the Bama legacy so rapidly. The fall of 2 decades of legacy was so rapid and so complete after last year I was actually shocked when FSU fans rushed the field after the game yesterday. TWO freaking decades of dominance from blood, sweat and tears gone like a fart in the wind. I hate it as a Bama fan, a Dawg fan and a fan of the CFB game.
Bama being good makes CFB better. Your legacy, tradition and history is a part of what makes CFB unique. When any of that is gone, the sport itself loses.
Where to go from here? I have no idea, but I am absolutely positive KD isn't in any of the answers. A & M paid Jimbo Fisher 77 million to go away. I pray Bama doesn't wait as long and they did to come to its senses. In reality we're way past talking dollar amounts: we're talking about pulling a cornerstone of the sport back from the mouth of the crusher/shredder. How do you begin to put a price on that? I honestly hope the powers that be can come up with a solution sooner rather than later.

Does DeBoer contract explicitly state the UofA can't change his Job Description ?
We could move his arse to OC and go find a real HC.
I'm only curious because I seriously doubt they are gonna eat that buyout anytime soon. What a silly hire this was.

At 75 I have seen the great years and those bad years. Losing happens to everyone but how you lose is another deal. The game vs Michigan and this loss to FSU show a real problem. 70 million is even a bigger problem.
JMO but what is happening at Bama is a problem headed to every college. It's the player pool and it's not fixable.

We are already in the sympathy from rival fan base phase of the decline.. will say this, if somehow UGA manages to lose to this Alabama team it will be devastating for UGA.

Unfortunately, we are stuck with Deboer for three years at the very least unless he decides to buy a whore in PCB or frick his secretary.

Plus entering the 2024 season, Lanning held a 7-5 record vs the top 25 with two of those wins coming against Liberty and Colorado...

You guys seem to be in our psyche like UF was under Spurrier and Meyer. There was a lot of those games we should have won, but just played outside of who were were. Despite being the better team it cost us more losses than I care to remember.
It's my opinion you own us until we prove differently, and we haven't yet. Will this year be different? I have no idea. It's all according to if Kirby can get those bats out of our head and play the game.

Regarding this and slightly oblique to it, but it seems to me if you look at the legacy builders in CFB, historicallythey were and are Defense oriented. Lanning is D oriented, so there's that.

Sark has never won a big game, that I recall. He seems to go ultra conservative.
Regarding our team, it’s mainly a line of scrimmage issue. We need big, mean and nasty alpha’s. Having said that, nearly any coach would be successful with that formula.

I think what's possible, is with the heat and pressure of the situation Deboer may pull a Curry.
Curry was 0-3 vs AU. Many wanted him gone. So after the 1989 season, he left for the position at Kentucky.
Perhaps there will be HC positions in the midwest to the west coast that open up, UCLA probably being one.
There'll still be a high interest in Deboer from west coast universities.

I think the man could be a successful coach other places, and not just on the West Coast. But sometimes people are just a bad fit for a situation and are eternally going to be a square peg in a round hole there. This is one of those situations IMO.

Yeah, I used to believe that when we went to Jacksonville too, but was disappointed to many times to count. 19 and 20 year olds are fickle creatures and still deeply superstitious to a large extent. Kirby broke the Jacksonville jinx, but somehow in the process we acquired the Bama bewitching.

Bill Curry wasn't walking away from $70 million guaranteed though. Once we fire him, DeBoer will never have to work again a day in his life. If he takes another job that is off the table. He's not getting a similar contract from a place like UCLA or Wisconsin.

I KNOW I am in the minority , but I am not ready to give up on KDB. I am as pissed as anyone but I still believe the man can coach and he is an offensive mind and good recruiter . Changes need to be made and personnel choices have to be addressed but I still like the hire as bad as yesterday was

Alabama has a football culture that just doesn't fit with this kind of coach. I shared a video about Wallace Wade on here last month and there were some descriptions of his character that seem to encapsulate how our fans feel to this day. Wade was a man who was tough as nails and hated losing more than he loved winning. Winning wasn't the goal, winning at everything you do was the only thing. You aren't changing that personality imbued on this program and its fanbase. It's been there since its begins as a nationally relevant football squad a century ago.

Yesterday was pretty bad but the jury is still out on DeBoer. We will need to judge the body of work this season to see where we are.This board is the king of overreacting.
