Who all is going to the opener at FSU? Seeing Bama play in Doak has been on my wish list ever since I was there for grad school. Gonna be sweating my dick off in the southwest end zone

I was going until they announced it was a 2:30 kickoff.
Absent rain it’ll be absolutely miserable which is yet another example of how they don’t care at all about gameday experiences for fans, it’s all about network tv ratings.

If I handled Austin at noon I can handle the panhandle at 2:30. Belt 2 arse time
(ETA: please put this on my tombstone if I die of heatstroke)

Austin was awful. We baked in the sun. And my dumbass was out late bar hopping the night before. So the dehydration was in overdrive.

Dude, there were a couple of college kids sitting in front of me with airplane bottles of FIREBALL! They kept doing shots. No water in site. I’m a big fan of minding my own business, and lord knows I did some insane partying in my day, but even my scumbag arse had to be like “hey you guys are going to fricking die if you keep drinking cinnamon whisky in 100 degree weather”.

I spent the night in Tallahassee once almost 20 years ago.
No fricking thanks.

Tallahassee kind of sucks in general. The natural history musuem was cool from what I remember being a very young kid. That's literally it. FSU Campus is meh. Not a great party scene for a huge school. No music scene. No culture. The Steak and Shake by the university exits is a good late night pit stop if you are driving across the panhandle.
As a teenager I took a greyhound that had a 3 hour layover at 3am in Tallahassee. I've been in a lot of sketchy places in my time, with lots of sketchy people. Hell, I grew up riding my bike with friends through Paramore, which for a while was in the top 5 for highest violent crime rates in the US. I have never been as on my fricking toes as I was at that greyhound station. Tallahassee is freaky, weird and lame.

Some road trips you go just for the game. Some you go for the experience.
Like we enjoyed Madison a lot last year and had a great time at the game as well. Tennessee trips are usually like that. South Florida game the experience was more fun than the terrible arse game watching Buchner shite the bed in a monsoon
Then some places you stay an hour out of town and just hang around game day. That’s what we’re planning for FSU. Miss St, honestly even Florida(I was expecting Gainsvillle to be more lively for some reason),

Especially after what happened there a few weeks ago.

Alright now, don't be shitting on Starkville because you're from Columbus.

Tallahassee absolutely sucks. No good restaurants, pretty barren food and drink scene by campus, downtown is lame and has no personality, etc. It’s hard to imagine a state capitol and college town with a major state university being so terrible.
That said, I’ll be there

I will say, last time I went back home and hopped over to Starkville it was a lot better than it used to be. It’s still just one road with two McDonald’s and a bad strip club 15 minutes away. The Cotton District has been built up decently.

I'll be there. I live in the panhandle and my wife cheered at FSU in the late bowden/jimbo years. Her family has season tickets. Needless to say, she's a die hard.
We, here on the bama board, whether we admit it or not are the fringe lunatics of our own fanbase, caring enough to talk about it with strangers on the internet. This will be our first game as a married couple
The bar/restaurant scene on game day is fine and similar to Tuscaloosa IMO. The "college town" district next to the intramural fields has a lot of places to pop into. It's crowded, but so are gallettes and houndstooth. Their gameday bars are more packed into one small area than ours, but they are right there by the stadium.
I'd advise everyone going to take no shite off anyone but don't look for trouble either. It's a fanbase teetering on the edge, and a lot of them blame Alabama for that. I anticipate seeing some scuffles

I’m going to be wearing an Alabama Latrell Sprewell jersey. Going to be a different kind of Choke at the Doak.

Are you talking about the Madison St area? Figured that was our best option.

Yea. Madison Social is their version of Houndstooth. There are bars/restaurants up and down that street though and the IM fields across the street will be full of tailgates in the traditional sense. Their version of the quad. This is not a trip to Baton Rouge though. Don't expect to be welcomed into every tailgate if you venture in there

Went to the game in 07 in Jacksonville and they were by far the worst fanbase I've been around. So many tried to start shite it was exhausting

I go to Tallahassee several times a year for work, have for years now, and I disagree pretty wholeheartedly with the "Tallahassee sucks" sentiment in here. I think that there are plenty of good restaurants, however I am far from what you would consider a "foodie." There are multiple breweries that make really good beer. I am not a bar person, so I couldn't tell you anything about the bar or club scene.
But as far as natural beauty/recreation, I think the Tal area is one of the more underrated places in the nation. I love all of the thousands of live oaks all around town. Some of the neighborhoods there are the fringes of town are stunning. Their park/trail system is pretty awesome compared to most cities. A lot of protected and preserved forest. The areas south of Tallahassee are incredible if you are into nature/wildlife/fishing/boating/paddling. Wakulla River, St Marks River, St Marks NWR, Sopchoppy, Bald Point State Park, Alligator Point, etc.
To each their own though.

I'm still on the fence. I'm not paying $350 plus a ticket right now. I can be there in less than hour and a half, so I am waiting to the morning of the game. I want to take the whole family (4 of us), because it is very likely that my son will be going to FSU next year. If I can get tickets for less than $200 a piece, then we will probably go.
