With all of this talk about realignment and expansion across the SEC here's how I would do it..

Drop 3 schools:

Vandy- Obvious Reasons, terrible at everything and are a bunch of nerds

Mizzou- Obvious Reasons, not a fit in the South and awful athletic department

Miss State- Forget they exist sometimes, not a big fanbase and has 1 natty in the HISTORY of their athletic department.

Add 3 schools:

FSU- Historically good football program, SEC fanbase

UNC- Not a good football program, but gives us the Jordan Brand and basketball

Clemson- Good football program as of late, their fanbase is sort of SEC, kind of cultish.

That's how I see it panning out.

I don’t think you can drop schools… if I remember correctly, charter members like Vandy and MSU for sure can’t be kicked out.

That awful athletic department has a:

6-6 record against Tennessee in football
10-13 record against Tennessee in basketball
17-16 record against Tennessee in baseball

So does that make Tennessee an awful athletic department too?

Vandy and State are founding members and will never be harmed.

Zero chance they are ever dropped.

That's one way to look at it.

Another way?

In sports that actually make money, State has as many NC's in this century as Tennessee.

State is also as SEC as it gets.

Nobody wants a world where State is not in the SEC.

North Caroliina and Virginia or VT would expose the SEC to the Washington DC metro area and a PILE of nfl talent comes out of that area. 2 of UNC, UVA and VT are the remaining crown jewels in either the SEC or BIG10 plan, I think. Clemson and FSU add nothing as far as recruiting and exposure of the conference....the SEC is already in South Carolina and Florida. The only program outside of UNC, UVA and VT who can bring something to the conference that does not already exist is Notre Dame....and nobody wants that. It would be coup to bring ND in but it would be the end of the conference as any sort of regional conference.

No one wants Vandy or Miss State to go anywhere. You're not kicking anyone out.

Give me Hokies and Wolfpack and call it a day.

Having a private university tucked away in your conference brings all sorts of advantages. Vandy is never leaving.

State is old, old school SEC. State is never leaving.

Missouri... well they are a cash cow for the SEC with the additional markets they bring in. A "Godfather" offer from the Big 10 might be really tempting but Mizzou stared down the barrel of the Big 12 vanishing for a long time. They know damn well the SEC isn't going anywhere. Universities love stability.

The only change I could see Mizzou lobbying for is getting out of the annual "nobody gives a rat's arse" rivalry with Arkansas but I think we are stuck with each other for now.

I’ve been in the club saying it’s going to be 35-40 schools breaking off. Doing their own thing playing 12 games of a geographic friendly schedule. Then NFL type playoffs. Their own Rules . Their own TV Contract. Their own Commish (Saban). I give it to the end of the next tv contract and 16 team playoffs.

Then add Baylor. They try harder, invest more, and typically get far better results than Vandy.

And it's not a joke when Baylor beats someone. They don't dress up like kings and prance around like a novelty act.

I doubt you can kick a member out. They would take it to court and win.

The SEC would need to dissolve and form a new league while excluding the afformentioned parties.

This is a dumb hypothetical because the conference isn’t dropping any schools especially founding members like Vanderbilt and State. Also why does everyone like to shite on Mizzou? They are a solid program coming off back to back double digit win seasons. Located in a state with good enough talent where they’re the only P5 team and in the SEC. Also they are pumping money into the program.

Adding two teams to get to 18 and match the Big10 will happen so let’s be real:

North Carolina is easily a top target. SEC is not in that state yet. NC is a large and growing state that is majority pro Tarheels. People can say well they aren’t great at FB up to this point. Ok? That doesn’t matter. That patch on the jersey gives them a bump and their administration is too smart to not understand that FB along with Men’s hoops are the engines that drive the machine.

Virginia Tech:
Similar as above. SEC is not in Virginia yet either. VT is a big brand that has a rich FB history and they truly back their team. The state of Virginia is a mixed bag regarding who the main team is but it seems like VT is a strong front runner for those who love athletics. Especially for FB. I think of them as another mizzou. They’d move the needle enough to make sense.

We’ve expanded west entirely too much. It’s time to dip into the eastern seaboard as this is the southeastern conference and NC/VA are definitely southeastern states with a lot of eyes on them. Throwing names like LSU, Georgia, Bama, Florida and Tennessee on those two teams schedules would really draw eyes considering how large of a footprint they bring.

Florida is worried they couldn't compete adding another Florida school. South Carolina is not going to allow Clemson to be added.

UNC is a good fit. Mizzu should be dismissed. They way the punted on baseball this year is more than enough. In a sport where SOS rpi etc is important, a sec school on your schedule should never tank your post season resume.

State is about as deep rooted in the SEC as it gets.

They have played Bama and LSU more times than any other team in the country.

They are old blood southern football through and through, going back to the 1800's before the SEC existed.

They will never be asked to leave the SEC.

Mizzou has been a better FB program than more than half of the conference since they joined especially as of late.

Oh you mean they “punted” on baseball which is a non revenue sport that most of the country also doesn’t invest in? Ok

Mizzou FB is currently better than:
Arkansas
Oklahoma
Texas A&M
Kentucky
State
SC
Auburn
Vandy

Basing this off of trips to ATL, double digit win seasons and NY6 bowl wins. Mizzou is a strong program. Deal with it
