Current FanDuel odds

Hard to argue against Texas making the Championship game again with their light schedule. Georgia and alabama have brutal paths to Atlanta. The loser of that game could be eliminated from contention.

UGA has to play @ Tennessee, alabama, @ Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida, and Texas

alabama has to play @ Georgia, @ Missouri, Tennessee, @ South Carolina, LSU, Oklahoma, @ Auburn

Texas +300
Georgia +350
alabama +500
LSU +950
Ole Miss +1000
Tennessee +1300
A&M +1300
Florida +1800
South Carolina +2000
Auburn +2600
Oklahoma +3300
Missouri +4000
Arkansas +13000
Vanderbilt +30000
Kentucky +30000
Mississippi State +50000

Not trying to be a homer but I like us to get there due to having the least amount of questions at the QB position.

Florida and South Carolina should also have some optimism in that regard.

I'll say it again. I think Nussmeier and Sellers are good QBs. If they were great, they would have left last year. Incredibly weak QB class last year. They may improve their stock this year and make a pile of money doing it. But these guys aren't Manning returning for a senior season.

I'll go with Texas as much as I don't want too. I think Bama in year two with their coordinators could be hell on wheels this year. I'm trying to stay away from the homer pick of UGA but I need to see how Stockton and the RB's play first anyways.

I’d probably say Texas, Bama, LSU, or UGA in that order. If we have an improved O-Line and running game, then we’ll be right there. Gotta see it first though.

I just looked at Bama's schedule. 8-4 for those barbaric retards.

LSU has an outside shot if Nuss improved 1/10th how much Burrow/JD improved, especially with those 3 DB transfers.

My money is on Texas though. Look at that bullshite schedule.

In a climate like this...you ask "who is best positioned to win the conference with good but not incredible QB play".

Normally, I would say if you look at returning production outside of QB play...it's a good place to start. This is a weird year, because:

Bama Defense has 8 starters returning (most in the SEC) and I don't know if that's an advantage or disadvantage. They gave up around 140 yards on the ground per game and nearly 200 in the air (over 10 yards per completion). 2 years ago, Bama with 8 returning defensive starters would be scary. Now, it's kind of encouraging. - Bama Offense has 6 returning starters from a middle of the pack group...meh

Texas A&M Defense like Bama has 8 starters returning...nearly identical rushing defense to Bama's last year...but approaching 250 passing yards and over 13 per completion...like above, is that an advantage or disadvantage? Texas A&M Offense has 7 returning starters from an offense that had nearly identical production to Bama's middle of the pack group.

Florida Defense - 6 returning starters...worse rushing defense than Bama or aTm, and pass D worse than Bama and only slightly better than aTm. Florida Offense has 6 returning starters...with an extremely below average performing group last season.

Georgia - Offense returns 4, defense returns 3. Offense wasn't setting the world on fire last year...they might actually be encouraged by the turnover. Defense was good last year...their depth should show with better ability to fill holes.

LSU - Offense returns 4 starters from a good unit. Defense returns 3 starters from a very sub-par unit. Another example of where not having many returning starters may not be a disadvantage. They were equally below average against the run and pass last season...They will need significant improvement from their defense with a lot of new faces.

Texas - 3 offensive starters returning from what was a good offensive team...like Georgia...how can they backfill with the talent they have on hand. Defense 6 starters returning from an extremely high performing group.

Stopping there...I would say that Texas would probably be my choice, based on returning defensive production. I'm thinking they can be mediocre on offense, and still be positioned very well overall.

Easy money, unless UGA wins the championship game.

FL has the best odds with a realistic chance. We get TX at home and GA on a neutral field.

Tend to agree. They've got the QB that's most likely to reach a zenith ceiling. Not saying he will, but he has the look and has played a decent bit for someone that's never been QB1.

Bama and UGA have big questions at QB.

LSU has a known and good starter at QB.

Won't be surprised at any of the four, but I'd pick Texas if I had to pick one.

Very unlikely the conference winner is not in these four.

The one thing I do wonder about with Grubb, is he seems to not be that committed to the run. That's what got him fired last year.

Nuss’s play is always questionable. What are you talking about? Just look at his play against a shitty bama team last year.

I was at the Butts-Mehre complex last week showing some out of town relatives around.

Ran into one of my friends over there who is close to the program.

He simply stated: "The Dawgs are being drastically underestimated at this point."

I'm picking the Dawgs to win the SEC again.

@ Clemson
La Tech
Florida
SE La
@ Miss
SC
@ Vandy
A&M
@ Bama
Ark
WKU
@ OU

Only 4 guaranteed wins on that schedule and LSU might be dogs in 6 or 7 games

I hear you. But right now, it's just the underwear olympics with the 7v7 bs. I need to see some live fire before I'm 100% sold.

Probably one of the 2 or 3 schools that always end up winning it. The more things change…

Phil Steele rates OU higher than the ratings that just look at last years perfirmance. I believe Steele rates the DL and the LB as both the #1 position groups in the SEC,

I feel OU has a chance to be excellent this year. Injuries always have the potential to derail expectations. I believe the season of our last Natty, 2000, there were no serious injuries to a starter. Last year the top 5 WR were out for injuries and the OL was a changing hodgepodge every week due to injuries….

The big change this year is that we have an OC and QB coach and his star pupil. Last year the OC was a quick internal hire that didn’t deliver. There was no QB coach last year. There was no former QB on staff last year. JA needed a mentor to make the change from HS to CFB and didn’t have one. This year we have the mentor and the QB has already adjusted to the change from HS to CFB.

With a first year coordinator running a new system they finished

#10 FEI
#9 Yards Per Play Defense
#10 Scoring Defense
#10 QB Rating Against Defense
#28 Rush YPA Defense

I'm going to go with advantage.

Gave up an average of 15 PPG the last 8 games of the season (along with just over 300 YPG), and in reality that was more like 12-13 PPG as the offense gave away 28+ pts between the Oklahoma and Michigan games.

How do you like Kelly running the Football program though?
