I feel like the football program has as much apathy today as any point in my lifetime. Pittmans seat is on fire going into the season and there’s already talk of who might the replacement be. Having said that, what would Pittman need to do to by himself more time? Personally, I believe 7-5 grants him a reprieve from the pitchforks. What do others think?

I don't know if I care enough to give a shite about our football program.

In most cases, fan expectations outpace reality.
I really try not to have 'expectations', because you always end up having to adjust them.
We should beat the cupcake, but state and Memphis are within playing over their talent level and biting us on the butt. Both will be pumped.
As for the rest of the schedule, I would like to think that we are competitive. We will win some and we will lose some. Which, I can't say.
But to answer the question... I think anything less than 7-5 will end in him going ahead and retiring. Anything above 7-5, he might go ahead and retire anyway, but with less pressure to.

I think you mean getting fired. Sam would be stupid to walk away with money on the table. I give him credit for having more sense than that plus his agent ain’t walking away from that money either.

Unless it’s health issues and he has no choice.

His seat isn't on fire.

6-6 is enough.

Revenue sharing is the new NCAA cloud free pass.

He went 4-8 in year 4 and still has a job. On the field performance doesn’t seem to matter. He’s going to be one of our longer tenured coaches by just not being Chad Morris.

7-5 (4-4)

Win 3/4 non-cons. Beat MSU, Mizzou, 2 more out of the Russian roulette.

6-6 with a big name win and a shitty bowl. Maybe 5-7 if we beat Texas and have several near miss losses.

Agreed. I hear more angry talk about the price of tickets than coach or players. The actual team it is just apathy

The real question is how long till tickets stop selling and crowds look scarce. 7-5 probably has decent crowds at end of season especially if we snag some big wins. 6-6 probably enough people going through the motions or cheering us on to get to a bowl game. Less than 6 is the only way I see his seat heating up enough to move.

This was the beginning of the end for a coach in any sport when Frank was here.

It still will be. Apathy by a recently profitable fan base will basically force action. It becomes a business decision at that point.

I think we are close. Many heavy hitters I've heard from are done putting more money into this program. 30+ year ticket holders of 8-10 seats saying they will watch at home

We get what we pay for, that’s not Sam’s fault. But here’s something that I wasn’t aware of….

quote:

Maximum Potential Earnings: If Pittman were to achieve the highest win totals each year and receive all potential bonuses, his maximum earnings could reach $10.25 million per year, according to the Southwest Times Record.

Do they want Sam to be very successful while they are trying to iron all this new business out? How willing are they to give him that amount of money if they have no interest in keeping him. Firing him would a potential disaster the way things are being run now in football.

Stay tuned…..

Pretty sure they'd pay 10.25 if he were to win the SEC and NC.

Some would consider that a bargain.

They issue would be the would extend him for 10 years at 15 mil per year with a signing bonus after that.

No worries then? …haha.

At this point they appear to be happy with how things are going now. Do not extend oneself beyond one’s means….

When crowds get Chaggie year two bad, maybe they make a move.
5 wins a couple of close losses will have fans renewing season tickets for another shite show in 2026.

It doesn't matter what the record is. Fay has shown it will show up no matter how bad the product is. There is supposed to be so much going on in NWA and yet people still show up for this mediocrity.

Guess you don’t remember WKU under Chaggie.

It was shocking in the stands.

Probably the only time in my life when I was actively cheering for a team against the Hogs.
